Taurya presents Dr. Mrs. Manjiri Deo

Taurya is glad to present an afternoon with Kathak Maestro Dr. Mrs.
Manjiri Deo
one of the most respected kathak teachers on the Indian dance scene,
and
disciple of Nataraj Gopi Krishna - a man so identified
with dancing that Indian dance is unthinkable without remembering the
maestro.

Dr. Manjiri Deo received her first lessons in dance from Pt. Badrinath
Kulkarni in Kolhapur. She received advanced training in Kathak from
Mrs. Asha Joglekar, Nataraj Gopi Krishna and Dr. Sitara devi. Mrs. Deo
received her doctoral degree from Gaandharva Mahavidyaalaya for her
thesis “An analytical study of applied Kavitta Chanda in Kathak
dance”.

She has authored three books on Kathak including “Nrutya Saurabh” that
received an award from Govt. of Maharashtra.
