Information about the Artists
Dr. Dhananjay Daithankar, from Pune, India, a disciple of Pt.
Shivkumar Sharma for more than 30 years, has been performing with his
Santoor for more than 25 years. He has performed on the highly
prestigious stages of classical music in India and been rewarded and
applauded for his improvisations and layakari expositions.
Representing rich tradition of the Benaras Gharana, his recitals offer
audience a wonderful exemplification of the purity of Raga. His
ability to express emotions through creative compositions in
different ragas, offers music lovers a unique glimpse.
His performances have included concerts in 'Sawai Gandharv Sangeet
Mahotsav', 'Tansen Samaroh', 'Pune Festival' along with tours of
Europe, USA and Middle-East. His achievements include the 'Surmani'
award, the 'Pune ki Asha' award', 'Dattopant Deshpande' award and the
national scholarship for instrumental music.
Smt. Swati Daithankar entered the classical dance field from a very
early age and has been earning accolades ever since. She was a student
with Guru Satyanarayan and later with Dr. (Mrs.) Kanak Rele & Guru T.
V. Saundarajan. Her shaping into an able BharatNatyam dancer was done
under the guidance of Guru (Mrs.) Mythili Raghavan. Awarded with a
national scholarship, "Yuva Bharati", "Sangeetonmesh" and the "Nritya
Alankar", she has performed on the biggest stages in India as well as
abroad. Her performances in many reputed dance festivals throughout
India became the time illustrations of her subtle expressions and
graceful movements.
After founding her own dance academy in Pune, 'Nrityasadhana', she has
also choreographed dance ballets like 'Krishna Lila Natakam',
'Srujan', 'Yugantara', 'Tamaso ma Jyotirgamaya', etc.
