Dear Hubs,
Transition Network and the Hubs together have a good opportunity to apply for funding from KR Foundation. KR Foundation, based in Denmark, fund internationally, and have recently changed their criteria to be closer to Transition work. Peter Lipman (Chair of Transition Network) has spoken with Brian Valbjorn Sorensen of KR Foundation, and he is welcoming of the idea of an application from Transition Network and the Hubs. He has offered to give his comments on up to 3 proposal ideas, during August. The first deadline for letters of inquiry is 12th September, there will be other deadlines, but it would be nice to start discussions and see if we can co-design a project idea by then.
KR Foundation fund up to Danish Krona 5 million = 670,000 euros = US $748,000 = £570,000
Talking with two members of the Hubs Funding Enabling Space who were able to discuss this at short notice, Bence and Adina, we three are suggesting that we try to arrange two virtual meetings. During the first meeting we would like to try to dream the ideas, the seeds of project themes. It may be that smaller groups can then talk together to develop particular ideas after this.
During the second meeting we can see how the picture is emerging, of the project ideas. See if we can co-design and integrate ideas together. We can decide which ideas we are going to ask for comments from Brian of KR Foundation.
During all this time from now, we will have this googledoc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E-cF1sqDoJngXoQxZpUH7kPkCgxlgtcZD3cj9Qx46pg/edit#gid=734192796 as a way to collect project ideas and comment by text. We know that KR Foundation want international, scalable ideas - not local projects.
We realise that taking part in co-designing and shaping the ideas will take time, personal and organisational capacity. Please do think about what time and energy you have to give to this. Bence, Adina and I felt that, as much as possible, we would want Hubs to benefit widely from this application, so even if some Hubs don't have the capacity to engage with co-designing it, hopefully they can benefit.
