Hi Hubsters!!
I am sending you here below info and an invitation related to the Programme 1 Year in Transition:
-----------------------------------------------
One Year in Transition (1YT) has
been running in the UK for four years now. It is a livelihood-creation
programme for young adults that has been fostered by Transition Network and is
moving towards becoming an independent social enterprise. It was set up and is
led by Isabel Carlisle who is Education Coordinator for Transition Network. 1YT
UK is currently funded by the revenue from student fees plus we get some
funding support for bursaries.
The ingredients of the programme
are first, a focus on inner transition alongside outer livelihood-creation,
second on learning done through personal connection to mentors of all kinds and
their lived experience, and third on many ways of knowing from spread sheets to
story-telling, from regenerative design to wild food foraging. There are four
week-long meet-ups between September and July when there is space for
reflection as well as intensive learning. In between everyone goes back to
their day-jobs and applies the learning to the context they are in.
We are actively now inviting
people in Transition, via the Hubs, to join our community of practice for teams
who want to set up 1YT in their own countries. There is a whole bundle of
resources, personal guidance and group support available. As a facilitator and
course leader you will be part of ongoing discussions and explorations into
eldership, mentoring, action enquiry, distance learning, story-telling and much
besides. Each time 1YT takes root somewhere else we all benefit from new
learning. Our meetings take place on Skype around once a month. Portugal launched their 6-month pilot Meio Ano em Transição http://transicaoportugal.net/meio-ano-em-transicao/ with 8 students back in February and Sweden launched their version this September
with 12 students, in partnership with Eskilstuna Folk High School.
You can see more about 1YT UK at www.oneyearintransition.org Seven
young adults went through the UK programme this past year (2015-16). They came
from around Europe, and one from Brazil. They are all in the process of
creating their own Transition livelihood that is rooted in a place and
community of their choice. Past students have gone on to be nature-based
teachers, workers with wood, bakers, story-tellers who help businesses become
sustainable, green conference and event organisers, food-growers and much more.
They are now creating value in their chosen place and community: not always in
a Transition group (there may not be one where they are) but they are seeding
Transition values out into the world.
