Hello All,

Just thought I might start an open discussion for a possible feature in a future release...

Hello Mitch,

Thanks for the links! We're actually working on this on the research side : https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02120033

However this is still very much 'in the lab' ; we will release a prototype in the coming weeks, most likely as a stand-alone program to run alongside IceSL. Of course a tighter integration will come at some point!

Best,
Sylvain

Dear Sylvain,

Thank you for posting the paper. This is a very exciting development.

May I ask if there will be an option for a different brush in the curved top layers?

Best regards,

Mitch

Yes, actually we have done more experiments with top layers than what is in the paper.

We'll post some pics later, but we now have an 'ironing' feature in IceSL and this works with curved slicing. The top layers end up being very smooth. We also have the option of changing the direction of the fill pattern on the top layer, but in the end we don't use it much.

Curved slicing is a bit more difficult and requires more tuning, but the results can be significantly better on some parts.

Best,
Sylvain

Hi,

We are currently working to have an OpenSource optimizer, OSQP instead of Gurobi to provide it as an external tool to IceSL.

We'll try to make it available ASAP.
