to IceSL
Greetings to everybody.

We just released a stable version of IceSL (2.5.3) and with it we officially released python bindings for IceSL.

We call this module pyicesl.

pyicesl splits IceSL’s pipeline into individual interfaces; modeling, slicing, processing of deposition trajectories and gcode generation.

This means that the user can now use python to create their own inputs to each of these steps in the pipeline without needing to rely completely on IceSL. Needlessly to say, this opens up the door to inject other methods not implemented in IceSL that can feed back in and use IceSL’s capabilities.

Not happy how IceSL slices geometry? you can now create your own contours and pass them to IceSL’s pipeline. You want to decouple geometry creation from 3D printing? Generate your own deposition trajectories and use IceSL to translate them to gcode. All of this within the capabilities of python, which are extensive to say the least.

Cordially,
Salim.

Note: pyicesl is fresh out of the oven. Version 0.1 to be exact. Bugs will certainly come up and some features of IceSL might be lacking. Please write to us to our mailing list to propose features or report bugs. Thanks!!
