Documentation: icecream with ccache

The easiest way to use ccache with icecream is to set CCACHE_PREFIX to icecc
...
To actually use ccache, the mechanism is the same like with using icecream alone.

What I read from the above documentation is that the easiest way is not a real / actual way, and I should actually use ccache like described after it...

Was this the intention ?

The entire section is meant to be read as a whole. It makes sense to me, but I wrote it so I'm probably biased. If you can write it better pull requests are accepted.

Even reading it as a whole, its sounds contradictory to me.

Did you mean one should rather the actual ccache way, and not the easy way? Pull request is not the issue, rather what did you mean ?

If you want to use both you configure cache first and then add the environment variables when building. It is tricky to get this right though.
