Hi Janet,
IceHRM is not a traditional 'program' that you can install on a windows PC, it is a web application and therefore must be run on a web server (which can be installed to a windows PC).
I would advise huge caution if you are 'not a computer geek' or rather, unfamiliar with how web applications operate, this is not 'beginner-level fiddling', and there are many security implications with your data if you are not careful or not confident with what you are doing.
Have you considered IceHRM's hosted option instead? Have the experts set it up for you, and you can access it anywhere in the world, and its free for small companies...
http://icehrm.com/hosted.phpIf you really want to do it yourself however, here's some advice:
To install IceHRM on a windows PC, you will first need to have a webserver installed and a database program (SQL). I recommend looking at XAMPP (
https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html), or Zend (
http://www.zend.com/en/products/server).
Once you have a local webserver installed, you will need to configure the database program and permissions, then copy the IceHRM files to your webroot 'hrm/' location. If everything has been configured correctly, you will then be able to access IceHRM via typing this in your browser locally from your pc:
http://localhost/*whatever-you-called-your-IceHR-folder-in-your-webroot* for example:
http://localhost/hrmThe IceHRM blog has some useful further information.
