Hey, I'm doing a bit of research for my dad, I'm trying my absolute best to find an NES emulator that can support an Xbox One controller, I've searched what feels like the entire internet and yet I have nothing. I've found a couple but they only use the keyboard and joysticks (of which we have none)I've found a couple but they only use the keyboard, but he says it's not the same as when he was young and joysticks (of which we have none). I now turn to you for help (if possible), if you have any links or names of programs that can run games with a controller please let me know.

FCE Ultra was forked from FCE (Family Computer Emulator).[9] Its last full release was version 0.98.12 in August 2004, while a pre-release version 0.98.13-pre was released in September 2004 as source code only. After that, development appeared to stop and the homepage and forums for the emulator were taken down.

FCEUX was first publicly released on August 2, 2008. This fork of the emulator has continued steady development since then, allowing the other forks to become deprecated, and now has features the original FCE Ultra does not, such as native movie recording support and the ability to extend, enhance, or alter gameplay with Lua scripts. Thus it has become far more advanced than its predecessors.[14]

This may sound like a stupid post but it's something I've been curious of. I grew up playing the NES and it holds a special place in my memory. One of the things we always just dealt with on the NES was the occasional sprite flashing or chunks of the sprites disappearing when there happens to be a lot of action on the screen. I've been getting into emulation over the last year or so and was playing some older NES games recently and got to wondering - is there an NES emulator that has added additional "power" to the system in order to prevent the sprite flash?

I totally understand that accuracy is a large part of the goals of emulation but wanted to see if there was anything like this out there. Not that the sprites flashing or tearing really bothers me, but I've always kind of wanted to see what some games would look like without the sprite flash/tearing. I imagine it wouldn't really be that different of an experience to be honest, but it might kind of interesting to see. That's why I thought I'd just toss this question out and see if anyone knows of an emulator that prevents that. Thanks everyone!!

I also tried setting custom to my screen res but it just stays in a black box on the upper left hand corner of my screen and still plays the game. I can't see anything but it still plays. THis is honestly ****ing retarded, the emulator should just have an option to go full screen, not have me **** around with stupid options that make the user confused. JNES will go full screen for me perfectly fine. I just click on it in a menu and it goes full screen. That is how FCEUX should handel things. Sorry to rant, but I am angry, I have tried everything and nothing will work.

FCEUX is an open source emulator for the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System console and its Japanese version called Super Famicom. With this emulator, you can play most of the titles from the NES catalog on any PC. Best of all, FCEUX also includes tons of advanced tools, so you're sure to get the most out of the emulation experience.

The emulator is compatible with the following NES ROM formats: NES, NFS, FDS and UNF. However, it can also work with ROMs stored in ZIP files, RAR, and 7z. It also lets you save games and control system configurations, along with offering the typical post-processing image filters to make it look like you're playing on an old-school CRT monitor.

This tutorial is to help you with FCEUX for Windows (previously called FCE Ultra). FCEUX is an excellent Nintendo emulator. It's been around a long time. Nestopia comes pretty close to FCEUX in terms of quality. Versus Nestopia, FCEUX has more intricate features for the advanced emulation enthusiast. It hasn't been updated since 2016, but it's still a good emulator.

With all the emulator offerings as of 2023, should you use FCEUX? Well, you shouldn't. I mean, NES emulation is pretty basic and easy to program an emulator for. You could continue using FCEUX if you really want to. You probably wouldn't notice any significant differences if you compared it with a modern emulator.

If you prefer an all-in-one package, the multi-system emulator, RetroArch, is a great option for NES emulation as well. It supports over 40 video game systems. It even includes a core (an emulator) for FCEUmm. It's the latest fork in the FCE family of NES emulators. Hence, you can enjoy FCE-quality emulation with a more modern experience.

FCEUX is a standalone program, so it does not have an install wizard. Installation is simple: just extract FCEUX from its zip file. To make things clearer, check out the video below that shows how to 'install' a portable emulator (it shows Snes9x, but FCEUX is the same process). It's pretty straight-forward - all that you're doing is extracting a zip file while doing a little bit of folder management. If you want to 'uninstall' a portable emulator, simply delete it!

*All the RPG shrines in my FantasyAnime.com offer complete collections of periodical game saves. With them, you can continue at any significant point in the game. I offer a Game Saves Tutorial where you can learn more about how to use somebody else's saves. You can also learn about how to transfer saves between other emulators.

Thank you for reading my tutorial! If you found it useful, please spread the word that this is an awesome site to get help with emulators and emulation! If you have questions, you're welcome to email me or message me on social media.

The FCEUX concept is that of an "all in one" emulator that offers accurate emulationand the best options for both casual play and a variety of more advanced emulatorfunctions. For pro users, FCEUX offers tools for debugging, rom-hacking, map making,tool-assisted movies, and Lua scripting

Gotten several people saying that Mesen is not running the demo properly and is causing the game to crash when using an attack or heal. Recommended emulator is currently FCEUX link to the emulator here:

This is a cool game and I'm happy to support the developers with my purchase, however the full digital versions do not appear to be compatible with the FCEUX emulator. The demo version worked with no issues, but none of the 3 full versions are able to start. Again I'm happy to support the developer as this is a really well crafted game, but it would be nice if the files could be updated to be compatible. If this is a problem just on my end and others are able to get it working, please let me know.

Hello Dr JaMiN, this is likely a compatibility issue of the emulator. The game works on real hardware and the emulator is made to replicate real hardware - optimization does not work the other way around. We recommend to try another emulator, almost all of them will play the game perfectly fine.

Same for me, i don't have a NES, i don't want to buy one, i prefer to play with emulators and buy many homebrews her on Itch.io and on Kickstarter. Will it be possible to buy your game in ROM format ?
Maybe when all the cartridge will be sold out ?
Thanks a lot
