Dear supporters of the Co-op Solidarity Team,

You can be of great help by (i) publicizing this event we are
organizing (details below) to your respective houses and among your
friends, and (ii) by printing out the attached flyer for the event and
putting it up in your houses.

Event:

"Free Trade" vs. "Fair Trade": Intersections, Overlap, Opposition

Time: Thursday, October 28 · 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Michigan League - Henderson Room
911 North University Avenue
Ann Arbor, MI

Description: In a panel discussion (the first half of the event)
facilitated by the ICC's Co-op Solidarity Team, experts from the
university and the community will debate the pros and cons of "free
trade" and "fair trade", followed by a community roundtable discussion
(the second half of the event), in which everyone present would be
able to participate and engage about the issue.

As ICC houses and house officers ponder on how to find the right
balance between cost and ethical purchasing, this is an important
discussion to have within the ICC. Of course, ICC non-members as well
as ICC members are welcome to the event.

Panelists will include:

Ian Robinson, UM Sociology lecturer
Alan Deardorff, UM Economics professor
Adam Konner (current O'Keeffe House member), United Students for Fair Trade

This event is on Facebook:

The flyer for the event is attached.

Thank you for your support!

Co-operatively,

Sayan Bhattacharyya
(on behalf of the ICC's Co-op Solidarity Team)
