We currently have 4 groups - but they are not working very well because it is not always clear which to use.

I propose to get rid of one:
  • icatproject-announcements for making announcements - and expect anybody with any interest in ICAT to be signed up. Only members can post.
  • icatproject-support for answering support questions. People signed up should be those prepared to answer ICAT questions. Anybody can post without moderation.
  • icat-developers group (this one) should be closed down and use the original icat group for this traffic.
  • icat group is then primarily for those with a more technical interest in ICAT and is where possible changes will be discussed.

I think that this is a reasonable proposal.

I could add a page to www.icatproject.org<http://www.icatproject.org> with the explanation of which to use and add a link to the navigation on the left hand navigation panel.
