Subject: UPDATE: the Resolution is NOT to be voted on today! they dont wanna lose!

Dear Supporters,

We just learned that IL Senate Resolution 59 will NOT be called today! This means that we will not be able to submit witness slips in opposition to the resolution today. Despite information that the resolution would be posted today, we learned that it is now too late for Senator Silverstein to post the resolution for today's hearing. It is the Judiciary Committee's last day to hear bills, so their agenda is full. Resolutions, however, can continue to be heard, so we will be mobilizing opposition again as we learn more! There will be hearings on April 1 and April 8 when the resolution could be called before a two week recess.

Thanks for staying on the Springfield rollercoaster! It is often the case that information about legislation's status isn't available until the last minute, as in this situation. But it is clear that your continued attention and actions are making a difference. The Senators got many calls today, and are hearing our opposition. We will now have more time to mobilize, and make sure that the resolution dies like the bill, or at the least is subject to serious consideration and debate!

Please look out for a new update next week.
