Iam trying to share some files but when I right click the file in Windows Explorer there is no "Copy Dropbox link" option. The dropbox icon is showing in my system tray and I have restarted. Any ideas how to fix this? A restart has fixed it in the past, but not today

I'm having the same issue on a win 10 pc. Windows explorer no longer displays the dropbox icon or the or the options to share, copy link or view on dropbox when you right click files or folders in dropbox. I assume this is a registry issue, which setting control this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled dropox, that did not resolve the issue.

If that doesn't help, please ensure that you can see the syncing icons in the Dropbox folder. If you can't see any, this means either it isn't the Dropbox folder or the desktop app isn't working as it should. In both cases, the Copy Dropbox Link context menu won't appear.

Downloaded and installed version 30.4.22, the drop box icon on the bottom right of the screen shows syncing. Windows explorer still does not show the dropbox options when right clicking a dropbox folder or dropbox file. The win7 pro pc running dropbox 31.3.18 works fine.

We just tested it on our devices here. The only two possibilities for the context menu to not appear is if we're not looking in the Dropbox folder, or if the Dropbox desktop application isn't running (or working as it should).

As you've mentioned that both are not true, we'll need you to write in to our support team to investigate further. You can write a ticket directly here:

I have encountered a problem in recovery my HP Laptop to factory reset. It does not perform because of missing some files. It was tried several times to troubleshoot the missing files but I could not manage to get them back and still the problem for factory reset exists. Please let me know what is the useful solution for this problem ? If I have to use recovery media please tell me how should I get healthy DVD/USB recovery image and then use it?

If you hibernate windows (or purpose or because of power-saving), then use ubuntu to store files on the NTFS partition, and then boot up windows, Windows thinks the disk was corrupted while it was in hibernate and "fixes" anything different. After that loging back into ubuntu just confirms that the files have in-fact been deleted.

Also I have seen that windows 7 may do a chkdsk after it installs updates on shudown when you bring it back up windows does extra tasks related to installing updates, so be careful not to boot into ubuntu after shutting down from updates. -newbie-8/windows-chkdsk-deletes-files-written-by-ubuntu-on-an-ntfs-partition-913606/

Edit: I was looking through the widows site to try and find if they detailed the hibernate process, but this sounds interesting -us/library/dd143253(v=winembedded.5).aspx , It seems at best the write caching from the harddrive is being saved to memory, then being written after bringing the drive back up, this may mean that the files can't be recovered, because it's not "deleting" as in removing the first letter of the file so the system does not see it, but actually overwriting large areas of data that have been cached. Needs to be looked into more.

It happened to me as well. After reading a lot about this on internet I came to know that this happens when Windows is in Hibernate mode. There are already some related questions here on askubuntu and also on superuser.

I'm fairly new to InDesign so not entirely sure as to how it should behave, however when I create elements (text or shapes) and go to change the colour, I have no colour swatches. I have to use the mixer to get the colour I want. I'm guessing this is due to the colour management files that are missing.

It was the same in Illustrator as well. I've since resolved the issue (I think). Before creating this post I was searching through other posts and came across a suggestion to add certain colour management files to a folder within my c drive. I was reluctant to try this at first in case I broke something however it seems to have resolved the issue. I would post the link to where I found the files but I've been looking and can't find it. I will post back here though once I've found it in case it helps someone else.

I've found the "Show missing files for VS 2019" Visual Studio extension. It will show the list both missing and not referenced from project files in the "Error list" window after the build.

This is pretty generic, so I hope this helps others as well. It saves me a manual check of over 70 folders (500+ files) on every deploy. If I have some time I hope to improve some things, like documentation... But let me give a simple example right now.

A small C# console application that finds all cs files referred from project files under a certain root folder (recursively), and compares with files in the file system under the same root folder. Can be applied to different file extensions, and different project file structures (I have tested it for VS2008). It may need some modifications to suit other needs, but should provide a useful base.

None of the previous solutions worked for me as the project I was attempting to add files to was a "Web Site Project"(WSP). When selecting the project in the solution explorer the "Project" menu item converted to "Website" and there was no "Show all Files" option.

Except in my case they weren't... I resolved the issue by simply closing and reopening Visual Studio 2015(VS) and reloading the project. I think VS only detects the addition of new files when the Web Site is re-loaded, not when those files are added outside of VS.

We had a similar situation which resulted in failed compiles due to missing files. I stumbled upon this post linked below, which helped me. It describes writing a Visual Studio macro that runs when a build is started.

(Assuming that Team Foundation Server is your source control): If the file has been added to the project and shows up in Source Control Explorer, but does NOT show up in Solution Explorer, you must manually add it to Source Control Explorer by selecting "Add", "Existing Item". This is an annoying Visual Studio/TFS bug that I just spend 2 hours trying to figure out.

If anyone has the error File Not Included the first response dated 2011 still works on VS 2017 Version 15.8.5 on .NET Framework Version 4.7.03056 Windows 10 with latest updates. Closing and reopening VS shows all files.

Hello all, I've been working for months in a excel worksheet, however suddenly all the latest versions of this document just disapear from my computer. The last version I can see is from April 20th, 2021, but I've been working and saving it every day since then. I have reverted some windows updates and so on, but he files are still missing. Please help

Sometimes it is also possible that your files have just been hidden.

1) Enter folder in the search box and select "Show hidden files and folders".

2) Under "Advanced Settings" select the option "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Any hidden files or folders should now appear again.

I have that problem with onedrive and google drive all the time. For some reason on windows 10 those services just decide for some reason not to sync things up. If you close the app (have to end task in task manager usually) and restart it, it usually syncs everything up at that point.

I have a gorgeous sexy big MacBook Pro. I just needed a smaller laptop because I lost all the strength in my hands when I had surgery on both of them 2 years ago. The Pro is so heavy and bulky but I LOVE IT!!!

When prompted by Windows about Insert Media files are missing, you may be very confused. After reading this article, we will provide 4 methods to fix Insert Media Some Files Are Missing without the Original CD/DVD.

When you use your computer and perform a series of activities, the system files on your Windows 10 may be damaged as these activities go on, resulting in the failure of reset. It is worth noting that going to some risky websites to install and download unknown files will greatly increase the risk of system file damage.

When your computer reads and writes some data, your hard disk may have bad or inconsistent disk clusters due to unexpected circumstances, such as computer crashes, power failures, etc. This will cause Windows 10 to be unable to access the file and prompt for an error.

We should first use the System File Checker command to solve the problem of system file corruption. The SFC Scannow command is a master key that can quickly help users repair or replace any damaged files in Windows 10.
