Dear all,

As you all know, the ME Space can’t be convened face to face due to the Corona Virus pandemic, and this situation may last for long time.

We thought we can undertake remote activities that may replace our face to face work during this period to achieve our objective which is to make the voice of our region heard for all important issues at ICANN.

Therefore, Nadira and myself, with the strong support of Baher and Fahd, we propose to address the Universal Acceptance under the angle of Arabic script e-mail addresses and prepare a statement to be discussed virtually in a teleconference, modified if necessary, adopted and sent to the ICANN Board and the UASG.

But before that, and to permit to our community members to better understand the UA in general and the Arabic script for e-mail addresses in particular, a webinar will be organized with 3 experts who will present all aspects of the topic.

This whole process will start on 15 April at 10:00 UTC by the webinar. A detailed mail will be sent soon with all information (speakers, zoom, agenda, etc.).

Best

Thanks Abdelmonemeim, what spelling mistakes? I do not think I saw any. I am taliking about the substance, we need to discuss the comments. Kindly reply to the comments/questions with regard to two of the items so that as a drafting team we can understand the meaning. That is what we always do with all of our google documents and shared statements, we discuss.

I aslo see that we need to paraphrase the below two paragraphs becasue they are the exact paragraphs that appeared on the APNIC Blog of 2017

https://blog.apnic.net/2017/01/23/deployment-issues-internationalized-email/ alternatively we can mention the source.

"Establishing a platform and/or forum might be a suitable first step to develop awareness and collect information to deal with all the issues each community has in relation to using and accessing IEAs and IDNs. "

and

"the deployment and use of IEAs are still restricted to a handful of languages and there is very limited or no support for it offered by email servers (SMTP, IMAP, POP), email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail) and email clients. Often, it is not even possible to create an email ID for end-users in a non-ASCII based language<http://www.asciitable.com/>."

Thanks again

Hadia

It will be done automatically from google doc.
Spelling mistakes all the time happen whatever who wrote the statement.

Other recommendations will be reviewed by the pen-holders and you will be notified by google, if it resolved, deleted or still need a discussion with any comment owner.

Keeping in mind that UA is a global project and all communities are talking about like APNIC, LCNIC, ... etc so it is not a problem to grep whatever fits to our needs according to our wording theme the time it is still a draft statement.

Some other comments received and fine-tuned through email discussion and all of you were copied, will be added in agreed fine-tuned version.

Pen-Holders will work for all comments, and other valuable recommendations received by email from other volunteers within the ME , will be considered as well.

Have a nice day
