Terry and I are getting ready to leave on Monday for
Haiti
and will be back the 17th. There are nine of us going this time –
five of us were there two years ago during the earthquake. The other four are
new. All of us are from Southwest Kansas .
The men are going to repair the Mariani church and help put
on the roof. This was the project they had planned to do in 2010 when the
earthquake interrupted our plans. The Lord has abundantly supplied the
finances needed for the materials for this project! Another project will be
the building of benches for the Carrefour church. Terry is also hoping they
can bring some order into the storerooms at the mission home.
I will be working again with the widows making rugs and quilting
projects. This year we are adding a new project – ladder ribbon
necklaces. This time I have three other women to help me which is wonderful!
This should free me up to be able to do something else I’m passionate
about.
Between the nine of us we are taking a mountain of fabric
from the estate of a dear friend and member of the church. When it came to
fabric she was a hoarder and what a blessing to be given these fabrics for the
women to use!
The mission home has an entire set of Betty Luken
felts (flannelgraph figures that go through the whole Bible). Our ladies’
group at church provided some backgrounds which we took with us last year. The
problem is, I don’t think they are being used very much if at all. I
have talked to Ghislaine about interpreting for me while I tell the stories and
she has agreed to do it. My objective in this is to teach her how to use the
felts to tell Bible stories. And I’m asking the Lord that if this is not
her area of ministry that we can discover someone who can get a vision for the
potential for these materials and be willing to learn how to use them. Would
you please pray with us about these projects we will be involved with?
Thank you and God bless! Martha
