Dear Bro Ford
Thank you for your love and your concerns for the people in needs in Haiti. Concerning sending work teams to Haiti is not possible we repair my home which is at the same time, the Mission house where we lodge the work teams who will not have to spend the money they will bring to do Christian work in hotels. I already answered this question in this past March newsletter I sent in the website icahaiti@googlegroups. I would like you to subscribe to it so that you may receive any information I will send through it. Here is below that newsletter I sent:
Newsletter of March 2010
Dear Partners and Beloved in Christ
We thank you all for your love and concerns about the calamities in which the earthquake of January 12 put the Haitian people. Indeed, the suffering is really great. But in the midst of all the anguishes, the Lord shows mercy: The Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, Kansas sent us a container, 10 feet, full of food: rice, beans, cornmeal, cooking oil, bulgur, oatmeals, boxes of tuna fish, etc. We took it out of customs on Saturday March 20th. We were so happy to share the food with 12 churches: Aussinette, Brahobe, Carrefour, Carrefour-Dufort, Corail-Lemaire, Corail-Pere, Decouze, Fauche, Grand-Goave, Leogane, Mariani, Nan Bassin. It was a blessing for these people who had the chance to get some food. Thanks to the senders and to Jesus! But we are unable to give anything yet to most of our church peoples who keep at knocking at our door for food. We pray that other groups may be able to send us more helps consisting in food, tents to lodge people who sleeping barely on the streets and home yards. These are our short-term needs.
We also have other needs to build collapsed churches and schools. I would suggest that any church or group who wants to help with these problems to choose a sister church or school to help build or repair. But now our priority is to repair the Mission house which we used to keep the foreign missionaries who used to come here whether to visit us, or to work for the mission, i,e. to build churches, schools, benches, etc. According to the engineer the building which measures 230 square meters (m2) and has 25 posts will costs US $ 46,000 ($ 200X230 m2) and $ 1,000 ($ 40X25) for materials and labor, and 10% of unpredictable expenses that will be about $ 4, 700.
The repair of the Mission house will cost approximately 51,700 US dollars. It is a big compound that can lodge many guests, mainly helpers who will come to help us. In fact, we are waiting for repairing that place before we can welcome those who would like to come to help rebuild the collapsed and damaged churches and schools here.
We know this cannot be the job of only one person or group. But with the help of many people, it can be done.
Any church who want to support this project may sent its donation directly to ICA/Lynx Air/PAP, P. O. Box 407139, Fort-Lauderdale, FL 33340,
Individuals who want receipts for tax deduction may send their donations with the designation ICA/Mission house repair to D M Stearns Missionary Fund, P. 0. Box 1578, North Wales, PA 19454.
May the Lord bless you in Jesus’ Name.
Fraternally yours in Jesus
