Hi there,

We'll need a little bit more information to be able to assist you. I'm assuming you are just in the process of installing AtoM? What version are you installing? Are you using Ubuntu 14.04 for your installation, or a different OS? What version of PHP do you have installed? Are there any other ways you are making variations to our default installation instructions?

Some notes from the PHP APC documentation:

You might try the update command first as well:

  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install php-apc

Once we have some more information, we can look at assisting you further.

If you have pecl, you could also try installing with pecl:

  • pecl install apc

Kind regards,

Hi there,

In 15.04 I believe you need to install php5-apcu instead. It's the PHP extension that provides userland caching and replaces the old php-apc extension. Opcode cache is now provided by the opcache extension which is included in the 15.04 php packages.

You may have noticed that our installation docs focus on Ubuntu 14.04. We are aware that the instructions are slightly different between different versions of Ubuntu. We are planning to release a new installation page dedicated to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS that is going to be released in April 21st. Our documentation is going to focus in AtoM 2.3.0 which has not been released yet but it'll be soon.

That said, you may want to consider using Ubuntu 14.04 instead which is a LTS release or wait until we prepare our 16.04 docs. Please be aware that 15.04 is a standard release with a shorter support cycle. The following diagram may be clarifying: https://assets.ubuntu.com/v1/4a135f44-release_eof-ubuntu.jpg (from http://www.ubuntu.com/info/release-end-of-life).

Thank you!

Hi again,

I'm not sure exactly why you are having that issue with the web8upd PPA. However you could try to use OpenJDK instead, we advised to use the Oracle JVM but it's not a strong requirement. In fact you may be changing that soon for multiple reasons. So try to install this package instead: openjdk-7-jre-headless:

    $ sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre-headless

And proceed with the installation of Elasticsearch.

Let us know if that works for you. I can update our docs at some point. We've tested OpenJDK internally and it works but we haven't heard the experience from other users. Your feedback will be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I'm glad that OpenJDK worked for you.

Your problem with Imagemagick may be a result of downgrading the version of Ubuntu. I normally try to resolve dependency with aptitude, an interactive interface available for Debian-based distros. This is a small tutorial: https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/aptitude/ch02s03s03.en.html.

SCP/SFTP will do it, you can also try rsync. They are installed by default in many distros like Ubuntu. If you need a client in Windows and you're not familiar with the command line try WinSCP (https://winscp.net), grsync, etc...
There is also very good documentation out there like the ubuntu wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/) or forums like askubuntu (http://askubuntu.com/).

Hi there,

The 2.3 documentation has a new section that will help you get started customizing a theme - it might help you? See:

Hi there,

This is actually something we are hoping to change in a future version of AtoM. The current system was introduced early, in the ICA-AtoM 1.2 version, and there has not been much development in the Accessions module since then - but we realize that this is not convenient for adding legacy accessions, and we hope to resolve it in the future.

For now, you have 2 options:

1) You can go to Admin > Settings, and edit the accessions mask to the value you want, generate a new accession, and then change the accession mask back. See:

2) A quicker way, especially if you want to add many legacy accessions, would be to use the Accessions CSV template to create your accessions in a CSV file, and then import them. AtoM will give you a warning that it is creating new accession numbers, and will use the values you assign it in the accessionNumber column. More information here:

Remember: if you are importing a CSV through the user interface, you must keep the CSV very small - the import is limited by the time out limits of the browser - so if you try to import too many rows, the browser will time out and abort the process, possibly leaving you with corrupt data. We recommend using the command-line interface for CSV imports whenever possible. In the future, we hope to add CSV and XML import via the user inteface using the job scheduler, so that the request is processed asynchronously in the background, and will not time out.

I hope that helps!

Cheers,
