Greetings,

We recently upgrade our atom installation from 2.6 to 2.7 hosted on Ubuntu 20.04, apache 7.4, however, this our second attempt of trying this process because we find a issue in the Archival Descriptions list where the Name of Creator is shown has untitled on the "es" culture, not happening this way on our previous installation of 2.6, where regardless the UI culture selected, the Name of creator was displayed on the list.

We already changed the default culture from "en" to "es" after the upgrade and we run all the recommended steps for clearing the cache and restart of services, but unfortunately it's still shown has "untitled" on every other culture test.

We appreciate your help in order to find a way to fix or configurate this issue which we presume is related to a culture fallback but we have not figured out how to amend yet.

Captura de pantalla 2023-05-23 151816.pngResults with "untitled" on "es" culture.

Results with the correct Name of Creator on "en" culture.

Hi Bryan,

I will attempt to reproduce this issue locally to determine if you've found a regression that was introduced in the 2.7 release. Can you clarify a few things to help me properly reproduce it?
  • What was the default installation culture of your old 2.6 installation? Was it also Spanish or did you change the installation culture for the 2.7 upgrade?
  • What language were your records originally created in (i.e. their source culture) - English or Spanish? Asking for both the descriptions and the related creator authority records.
  • Note: if you are not sure, you can open the record in Edit mode and look in the Administration area - it should list the source culture
  • Was culture fallback working as expected for these records in 2.6 prior to upgrading?
Thanks!

Hello Dan,

    • What was the default installation culture of your old 2.6 installation? Was it also Spanish or did you change the installation culture for the 2.7 upgrade?
    • A: Our old installation has English as its default culture but it was change to Spanish a couple of months ago, i couldn't find information related to the culture installation setting, usually what we do is perform a clean installation of a new update of atom whose default culture is always in english and then copy our old data changing at the same time the culture to Spanish, cleaning cache and indexing the records.
    • What language were your records originally created in (i.e. their source culture) - English or Spanish? Asking for both the descriptions and the related creator authority records.
    • Note: if you are not sure, you can open the record in Edit mode and look in the Administration area - it should list the source culture
    • A: For both, descriptions and authority records, we have most of it in english (first records was imported that way) and a short part on Spanish, some records are shown as Spanish culture on the filter section, inside the edit mode and Administration area it appears to be on Spanish too, but its Creator Name only shows in English culture.

Captura de pantalla 2023-05-24 111125.png Example of the record Administration area shown spanish as source lenguage.
      • Was culture fallback working as expected for these records in 2.6 prior to upgrading?
      • A: That's correct, we have a copy of the virtual server of that state prior upgradind, we already checked and regarless the culture  choosed the on the UI the Name of Creator it's visible correctly.
Thanks a lot for your answer, your help in this matter is really appreaciated.

      Regards!

      Hi again Bryan,

Thank you for the additional information. I have now successfully reproduced this issue locally, and I have filed a bug report for our Maintainers to review, here:
Hopefully we can address this in a future release! I am not certain, but I think that it may need to wait until at least the 2.8 release, as code freeze has begun for the upcoming 2.7.2 release so we can get it out the door soon.

In the meantime, I know it might be a lot of work if you have many authority records, but manually adding a translation for the name should resolve the issue.
