500 Internal Server Error

Hi everyone,
 i get the error 500 Internal Server Error when i try to upload an image in atom 2.7.Can you please point me to the thread that covered this before.

Good morning!

 

 

I had the same problem last Friday. I tried to update a field in an old description and the system gave me this 500 internal server error. It then recovered by itself. However, I was unable to update the description because the system crashed again. Just to point out that I was unable to update the description at the fonds level.

 

Has your system recovered after your effort to upload the description?

Hi Maria,
 
No i am still unable to link or update any images. When linking or uploading images it shows the progress bar but just before finishing it gives me the 500 server error. I am trying to find a solution for this problem.

It was my mistake trying ti link or upload a digital object. I used the wrong archival institution.

Hi Willem, 

I've assembled a good introductory guide to fixing 500 errors in this thread, which I originally put together to answer a thread from Maria. See: 
In general, two useful things to remember are 1) when encountering a 500 error, it's generally a good idea to start by having someone check the webserver error logs, as there is often more information there that can tell us about the nature of the problem, and 2) to be able to offer useful suggestions, we need to know more about your installation, what led to the problem, and what you've tried so far to resolve it - there is a list of good questions to answer when seeking support for a 500 error in the beginning of the thread linked above. 

If the problems persist and you need additional assistance, please answer the questions found there and share any relevant error messages you find in the logs, and we can go from there!

I have fixed the problem. It was my mistake. I tried to link an image to the wrong archival institution. All good now.

We are still looking for the source of the problem with the 500 Internal Server Error that crashes the system.

 

I will also have a look today for the problem with updating the archival description.

Dear colleagues,

 

We are now facing a new problem with our new version of AtoM, we try to update collections or add for example the description level and it turns out with the following 500 internal server error.  As a result, we are unable to update or change the description as this happens over and over again. Could you please help us?

Hi Maria, 

Please start with this comprehensive guide to 500 errors I assembled for you in a previous thread: 
To be able to help you resolve this, we will need at minimum your answers to the initial questions included there, as well as any relevant error log message. 

Based on the description, I suspect that the problem is that your job scheduler has stopped running - you will need to reset the fail counter and restart the atom-worker. Fortunately, 1) the error logs will tell you if this is the case, and if so, 2) the post linked above includes a section on Job scheduler issues and how to resolve them. 

Let us know how it goes, or else please reply with additional information and we can go from there.
