migrate from 2.3.1 to 2.7

Hy everyone!!

We have a very old AtoM versión and we want to migrate the SQL tables and theirs vunculed digital objtects to the last version but we don’t know what is the best vay to do it.

Our actual version is Atom 2.3.1. for Windows and we wanto to migrate to 2.7 for Linux (whth Ubuntu 20.04). ¿Which es the best method to do this process?

Hi Manuel, 

So long as you have still used MySQL for the database, then the installation platform (i.e. Windows vs Linux) should not make any difference to the database schema, which is what matters for upgrading. This means you should be able to follow the normal upgrading instructions even if moving the operation system from Windows to Linux. 

A quick summary:

• First, to avoid unexpected issues, make sure your new Linux environment can meet the recommended minimum technical requirements
• Copy your uploads and downloads directories  to the new Linux environment in the right location (see the upgrading instructions on copying your old data here) and make a database backup of your current installation (also documented in the upgrading instructions, but for more details, see the additional instructions here)
• Install a new 2.7.x installation on Ubuntu, following the supported installation docs
• Make sure that you drop and recreate the MySQL database on your new linux installation, per step 4 in this section of the upgrading docs
• Load your sqldump from the older Windows installation (per step 5 here)
• Run the upgrade task (docs here)
• Rebuild the search index, clear the cache, and restart services (covered on the rest of the Upgrading documentation page)
