First of all congratulations for the tool but I couldn`t install
I`ve tried over windows with xampp, I have created a user qubit and a
database associated with all grants. I began the installation, the
check was ok and the load of the data on table (mysql) was ok ( 53
tables were created) but al last there was an error:

Conexión interrumpida

La conexión con el servidor http://localhost/icaatom-1.0.7/web/install.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData
fue restablecida mientras se cargaba la página.

El enlace de red fue cortado al negociar una conexión. Intente
nuevamente.

And then I couldn`t go on.
I`m a librarian and archivistic teacher and I'm trying to deploy the
software for teaching to my students at EUBCA in Uruguay.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Silvana,

Thank you for your question. We're very pleased to hear that ICA-AtoM
is being tested in Uruguay! I have forwarded your message to one of
our developers, who will get back to you as soon as he can.

Hi Silvana,

It sounds like you may be running out of memory while the installer load
the system data. Please see this wiki page for suggestions on
increasing your memory_limit:

http://qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Installer_Warnings#Allowed_memory_size_exceeded

Hi David,

I have exactly the same issue as Silvana during installation of ica-
atom 1.0.7 (on windows using xampp) :

- check is OK
- 53 tables are created

but I get an "interrupted connection" :

"Connexion interrompue
La connexion avec le serveur a été réinitialisée pendant le
chargement de la page.
La liaison au réseau a été interrompue pendant la négociation d'une
connexion. Veuillez réessayer."

and the displayed url is then : http://localhost/icaatom/install.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData

I did however define all the "php.ini" parameters as described in
http://qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Xampp_installation.

I even tried to double the recommended value as follows :

memory_limit = 256M
max_execution_time = 240

but I have still the error.... Any idea ?

Here is my last "error_log" info (I have setted the httpd.conf
LogLevel to "debug") :

Hi

Could you post the access_log as well? I had to set the
max_execution_time even higher, as the equipment here in place is
really old. Additionally, could you post the my.ini file? I had some
issues there as well regarding strict mode and character sets. What if
you use qubit_dev.php instead of install.php for the database
configuration steps during the installation process?

[PHP]

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About php.ini ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; PHP's initialization file, generally called php.ini, is responsible
for
; configuring many of the aspects of PHP's behavior.

; PHP attempts to find and load this configuration from a number of
locations.
; The following is a summary of its search order:
; 1. SAPI module specific location.
; 2. The PHPRC environment variable. (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 3. A number of predefined registry keys on Windows (As of PHP 5.2.0)
; 4. Current working directory (except CLI)
; 5. The web server's directory (for SAPI modules), or directory of
PHP
; (otherwise in Windows)
; 6. The directory from the --with-config-file-path compile time
option, or the
; Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\winnt)
; See the PHP docs for more specific information.
; http://php.net/configuration.file

; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably
guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.

; Directives following the section heading [PATH=/www/mysite] only
; apply to PHP files in the /www/mysite directory. Directives
; following the section heading [HOST=www.example.com] only apply to
; PHP files served from www.example.com. Directives set in these
; special sections cannot be overridden by user-defined INI files or
; at runtime. Currently, [PATH=] and [HOST=] sections only work under
; CGI/FastCGI.
; http://php.net/ini.sections

; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from
FOO=bar.
; Directives are variables used to configure PHP or PHP extensions.
; There is no name validation. If PHP can't find an expected
; directive because it is not set or is mistyped, a default value will
be used.

; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or
M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an
expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), a quoted string ("bar"), or a reference to
a
; previously set variable or directive (e.g. ${foo})

; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and
parentheses:
; | bitwise OR
; ^ bitwise XOR
; & bitwise AND
; ~ bitwise NOT
; ! boolean NOT

; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.

; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after
the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:

; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = None ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "None" ; sets foo to the string 'None'

; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend
extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the
extension.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About this file ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; PHP comes packaged with two INI files. One that is recommended to be
used
; in production environments and one that is recommended to be used in
; development environments.

; php.ini-production contains settings which hold security,
performance and
; best practices at its core. But please be aware, these settings may
break
; compatibility with older or less security conscience applications.
We
; recommending using the production ini in production and testing
environments.

; php.ini-development is very similar to its production variant,
except it's
; much more verbose when it comes to errors. We recommending using the
; development version only in development environments as errors shown
to
; application users can inadvertently leak otherwise secure
information.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Quick Reference ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; The following are all the settings which are different in either the
production
; or development versions of the INIs with respect to PHP's default
behavior.
; Please see the actual settings later in the document for more
details as to why
; we recommend these changes in PHP's behavior.

; This directive informs PHP of which errors, warnings and notices you
would like
; it to take action for. The recommended way of setting values for
this
; directive is through the use of the error level constants and
bitwise
; operators. The error level constants are below here for convenience
as well as
; some common settings and their meanings.
; By default, PHP is set to take action on all errors, notices and
warnings EXCEPT
; those related to E_NOTICE and E_STRICT, which together cover best
practices and
; recommended coding standards in PHP. For performance reasons, this
is the
; recommend error reporting setting. Your production server shouldn't
be wasting
; resources complaining about best practices and coding standards.
That's what
; development servers and development settings are for.
; Note: The php.ini-development file has this setting as E_ALL |
E_STRICT. This
; means it pretty much reports everything which is exactly what you
want during
; development and early testing.
;
; Error Level Constants:
; E_ALL - All errors and warnings (includes E_STRICT as of
PHP 6.0.0)
; E_ERROR - fatal run-time errors
; E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR - almost fatal run-time errors
; E_WARNING - run-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
; E_PARSE - compile-time parse errors
; E_NOTICE - run-time notices (these are warnings which often
result
; from a bug in your code, but it's possible that
it was
; intentional (e.g., using an uninitialized
variable and
; relying on the fact it's automatically
initialized to an
; empty string)
; E_STRICT - run-time notices, enable to have PHP suggest
changes
; to your code which will ensure the best
interoperability
; and forward compatibility of your code
; E_CORE_ERROR - fatal errors that occur during PHP's initial
startup
; E_CORE_WARNING - warnings (non-fatal errors) that occur during
PHP's
; initial startup
; E_COMPILE_ERROR - fatal compile-time errors
; E_COMPILE_WARNING - compile-time warnings (non-fatal errors)
; E_USER_ERROR - user-generated error message
; E_USER_WARNING - user-generated warning message
; E_USER_NOTICE - user-generated notice message
; E_DEPRECATED - warn about code that will not work in future
versions
; of PHP
; E_USER_DEPRECATED - user-generated deprecation warnings
;
; Common Values:

standards warnings.)

; extension=modulename.extension
;
; For example, on Windows:

; extension=msql.dll

; ... or under UNIX:
;
; extension=msql.so

; If you only provide the name of the extension, PHP will look for it

; Be sure to appropriately set the extension_dir directive.

;xdebug.collect_includes = 1

; xdebug.collect_params
; Type: integer, Default value: 0

; xdebug.collect_vars
; Type: boolean, Default value: Off
; This setting tells Xdebug to gather information about which
variables are used in a certain scope.
; This analysis can be quite slow as Xdebug has to reverse engineer
PHP's opcode arrays. This setting

# All interaction with mysqld must be made via Unix sockets or named

# Replication Slave (comment out master section to use this)
#
# To configure this host as a replication slave, you can choose
between
# two methods :
#
# 1) Use the CHANGE MASTER TO command (fully described in our manual)
-
# the syntax is:
#
# CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST=<host>, MASTER_PORT=<port>,
# MASTER_USER=<user>, MASTER_PASSWORD=<password> ;
#
# where you replace <host>, <user>, <password> by quoted strings
and
# <port> by the master's port number (3306 by default).
#
# Example:
#
# CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='125.564.12.1', MASTER_PORT=3306,
# MASTER_USER='joe', MASTER_PASSWORD='secret';
#
# OR
#
# 2) Set the variables below. However, in case you choose this method,
then
# start replication for the first time (even unsuccessfully, for
example
# if you mistyped the password in master-password and the slave
fails to
# connect), the slave will create a master.info file, and any later
# change in this file to the variables' values below will be
ignored and
# overridden by the content of the master.info file, unless you
shutdown
# the slave server, delete master.info and restart the slaver
server.
# For that reason, you may want to leave the lines below untouched
# (commented) and instead use CHANGE MASTER TO (see above)
#
# required unique id between 2 and 2^32 - 1
# (and different from the master)
# defaults to 2 if master-host is set
# but will not function as a slave if omitted
#server-id = 2
#
# The replication master for this slave - required
#master-host = <hostname>

# to the master - required
#master-user = <username>

Hi Philippe

Ok, what are the access_log entries after the configureDatabase call
(loadData? with what return values?). You have the qubit_dev.php even
in your normal release, just replace the "install.php" part of the url
with it.
Please, can you send the "my.ini" (mysql database config file) rather
than the php.ini?

the same problem.

Philippe,

I was not precise enough with the qubit_dev.php instruction. You can
do a normal installation procedure with the system checks. After that,
when the db configuration is on, replace the install.php part of the
url with qubit_dev.php and reload, fill in the connection info and
continue. Hopefully, after the script has finished, you'll get some
info on what is going wrong.
Your current access_log is strange, though, as the installation does
not even go to the loadData step. Correct?

Andréas,

You are right : it aborts before starting the "Load data" process. As
the 53 MySQL tables are created, I suppose it is when calling the
"load process" that fails...

When it aborts, the url displayed in the browser is :
http://localhost/icaatom/install.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData
and it immediatly displays the "interrupted connection"...

I replaced the displayed URL by http://localhost/icaatom/qubit_dev.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData
and it is the same : "interrupted connection"

When I replace "install.php" by "qubit_dev" for the configure database
step (that is : http://localhost/icaatom/qubit_dev.php/sfInstallPlugin/configureDatabase),
I get the following :

Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not
an array in C:\xampp\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\apps\qubit\config
\qubitConfiguration.class.php on line 39

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at C:\xampp\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\apps\qubit\config
\qubitConfiguration.class.php:39) in C:\xampp\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\lib
\vendor\symfony\lib\response\sfWebResponse.class.php on line 335

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at C:\xampp\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\apps\qubit\config
\qubitConfiguration.class.php:39) in C:\xampp\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\lib
\vendor\symfony\lib\response\sfWebResponse.class.php on line 349

Then when I clic on the save and configure button, I get :

Strict Standards: Declaration of sfAnsiColorFormatter::format()
should be compatible with that of sfFormatter::format() in C:\xampp
\sites\icaatom-1.0.7\lib\vendor\symfony\lib\command
\sfAnsiColorFormatter.class.php on line 20

then the "interrupted connection" page....

Hope it helps ...

Rgds,

Philippe.

Andreas,

Is there any way to load the data and configure the site manually (a
doc somewhere for that) ?

This could be a temporary solution allowing me to test the product.

Philippe.

Hi Silvana,

Did you succeed in installing the tool on windows with xampp ?

I have exactly the same issue ("interrupted connection") and if you
solved it, I would be greatful if you could tell me how.

Best regards,

Philippe.

Hm, this now seems to be different to all the issues I experienced,
I'm sorry I cannot give you any more inputs. Also, I don't think just
loading the data would do. But I'm sure one of the developer has
enough info now to guide you.
Anyway, I did the installation not with xampp, but with the most
recent installers for the individual packages (apache 2.2, mysql 5,
php 5.2).

Hi ptrem,

This sounds like it may be a MySQL connection problem because it
occurs when the system first tries to hi the database. Can you
please post your MySQL error log, from your config file it should be
at "C:/xampp/mysql/data/mysql.err"

Also, I found this post about "connection reset" problems with XAMPP
on the ApacheFriends forum
http://www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33813

Please have a look and see if any of the proposed solutions listed
help in your case.

P.S. Andreas, thanks for all your great help in attempting to
troubleshoot this problem!

Could also be an Apache timeout? One trick might be to sidestep Apache
- after getting the "Conexión interrumpida" error, try running from a
command line,

$ PATH_INFO=/sfInstallPlugin/loadData php web/index.php

^ Not sure if this is possible on Windows? To set
an environment variable?

When /sfInstallPlugin/loadData runs normally, in a browser, it
redirects to /sfInstallPlugin/configureSite when done. If running it
from command line works, you'll need to manually browse to /
sfInstallPlugin/configureSite when done...

I do not see any clue in it which may help in solving my problem.

On my side, I would not suspect a MySQL issue. The 53 tables are well
created during the "Configure database" install step. Which let
suppose the MySQL access is working properly. I also have access to
all the databases using the phpMyAdmin provided with xampp without any
problem (including the database "icaatom" I created for ica-atom).
Please also note, I tried (at the first beginning) to access another
MySQL instance on one of our servers on our network and I had this
problem too (by the way, that is why I decided to use the xampp local
MySQL instance thinking it was a problem with my server :-( )

I read the ApacheFriends forum link (http://www.apachefriends.org/f/
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=33813) you provided.

I am on XP so no UAC potential issue. I also tried with both MS IE and
Firefox (even after clearing the cache) and I have the problem on
both browsers.

I am quiet sure this issue may be reproductible in the same
environment as mine : does someone already tried to install ica-atom
1.0.7 on xampp "xampp-win32-1.7.2" on Windows XP SP3 ? What was the
result ?

Finally, I also want to thank Andreas for the time he spent with me
trying to solve this issue.

I you want me to test other stuff, let me know, I really would like to
successfully install ica-atom to qualify this product which would
perfectly correspond to what we are looking for.

Keep intouch.

Rgds,

Philippe.

Hi Philippe,

I can't see anything in your MySQL error log that indicates a problem
either, so I agree that we should look elsewhere for the problem. The
last version of XAMPP that I tested the installer with is 1.6.7, so I
will try doing the installation with XAMPP v1.7.2 and see if I can
reproduce the error. I'll post back here after I've tested the installer
out.

Hi Philippe,

I've confirmed this issue with an install of XAMPP v1.7.2 - I received
the same error on install. :( This appears to be some problem with
the Apache, MySQL, PHP stack in this version of XAMPP which is causing
a fatal error in Apache when trying to load data. This makes it a very
difficult problem to troubleshoot as it's not a bug in our software,
but an issue in the underlying platform that the software runs on. :(

Unfortunately our 1.0.8 deadline for new features is coming up this
Sunday, 27 September - and I need to concentrate on getting my work
complete for this deadline. I will follow up on this issue, and test
if it is still a problem in ICA-AtoM v1.0.8 but it will be at least a
week before I can devote more time to this problem.

Thank you for your patience in this beta-testing phase of ICA-AtoM
development.

Hi David,

Thanks a lot for your time in investigating this issue.

Knowing now that the problem could be linked to xampp, I am going to
try the installation with older xampp version and, if needed, with a
prior version of ica-atom too. I will keep you informed.

On your side, if you have other information and possibly a fix for
this issue thanks in advance in keeping me informed.

Regards,

Philippe.

Hi David,

I just tried to install ica-atom on xamp 1.6.7.... Bad news :

Wathever ica-atom version I tested (1.0.7or 1.0.6 or 1.0.5) wit xampp
1.6.7, I get a blank page with only "System checks" displayed (url
displayed is : "http://localhost/icaatom/install.php/sfInstallPlugin/
checkSystem" or "..../check" for ica-atom 1.0.5 and ica-atom 1.0.6)

When I replace the "http://localhost/icaatom/install.php/
sfInstallPlugin/check" url by "http://localhost/icaatom//web/
sfInstallPlugin"(as indicated in the "Troubleshooting" part of the
installation guide), I get URL NOT FOUND (error 404 -see error_log
below-).

When I replace the "http://localhost/icaatom/install.php/
sfInstallPlugin/check" url by "http://localhost/icaatom/qubit_dev.php/
sfInstallPlugin/check" (as Andreas suggested me one day), With ica-
atom 1.0.5, I get :

"System checks

Fatal error: Call to undefined method domdocument::load() in C:\xampp
\sites\icaatom-1.0.5\plugins\sfInstallPlugin\lib\sfInstall.class.php
on line 55"

With ica-atom 1.0.6 and 1.0.7, I get the same blank page with only
"System checks" displayed .....

My access_log content is the following (only the part for ica-atom
1.0.7; it is the same with older version):

127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:38:28 +0200] "GET /icaatom/ HTTP/1.1"
302 93
127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:38:28 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/index.php

127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:38:28 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/
install.php/sfInstallPlugin HTTP/1.1" 302 139
127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:38:29 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/

127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:38:39 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/

127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:39:18 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/
qubit_dev.php/sfInstallPlugin/checkSystem HTTP/1.1" 302 1313
127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:39:18 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/
install.php/sfInstallPlugin HTTP/1.1" 302 139
127.0.0.1 - - [23/Sep/2009:17:39:18 +0200] "GET /icaatom/web/
install.php/sfInstallPlugin/checkSystem HTTP/1.1" 500 1098

And here is my error_log (only for ica-atom 1.0.7; it is the same with
older version):

[Wed Sep 23 17:38:39 2009] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not
exist: C:/xampp/sites/icaatom-1.0.7/web/sfInstallPlugin

So, even with an older xamp version and ica-atom 1.0.5 to 1.07, I do
not succeed in installing the product on Windows...

I am going to try on a linux machine when I will find one...

Regards,

Philippe.

PS : I wanted to attach my httpd.conf and php.ini files for you to
have a look but I did not find out how to do....

Hi Philippe,

Did you disable DOM XML as specified in the documentation?

http://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Xampp_installation#Disable_DOM_XML_extension

This extension can cause conflicts with the DOM functions present in
PHP5:

Hi David,

Yes, I did disable DOM XML as specified in the documentation
http://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Xampp_installation

Regards,

PS1 : I did follow entirely the documention and apply all what was
requested in it.

PS2 : Here are my php.ini and httpd.conf files :

php.ini :

[PHP]

;;;;;;;;;;;
; WARNING ;
;;;;;;;;;;;
; This is the default settings file for new PHP installations.
; By default, PHP installs itself with a configuration suitable for
; development purposes, and *NOT* for production purposes.
; For several security-oriented considerations that should be taken
; before going online with your site, please consult php.ini-
recommended
; and http://php.net/manual/en/security.php.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About php.ini ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior. In order for PHP
to
; read it, it must be named 'php.ini'. PHP looks for it in the
current
; working directory, in the path designated by the environment
variable
; PHPRC, and in the path that was defined in compile time (in that
order).
; Under Windows, the compile-time path is the Windows directory. The
; path in which the php.ini file is looked for can be overridden using
; the -c argument in command line mode.
;
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably
guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
;
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from
FOO=bar.
;
; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or
M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an
expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").
;
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and
parentheses:
; | bitwise OR
; & bitwise AND
; ~ bitwise NOT
; ! boolean NOT
;
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
;
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after
the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
;
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = none ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "none" ; sets foo to the string 'none'
;
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend
extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the
extension.
;
;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About this file ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; All the values in the php.ini-dist file correspond to the builtin
; defaults (that is, if no php.ini is used, or if you delete these
lines,
; the builtin defaults will be identical).

; Output buffering allows you to send header lines (including cookies)
even
; after you send body content, at the price of slowing PHP's output
layer a
; bit. You can enable output buffering during runtime by calling the
output
; buffering functions. You can also enable output buffering for all
files by
; setting this directive to On. If you wish to limit the size of the

'On', as

ob_start().
; Using this ini directive may cause problems unless you know
what script
; is doing.
; Note: You cannot use both "mb_output_handler" with
"ob_iconv_handler"

"zlib.output_compression".

PHP
; outputs chunks that are few hundreds bytes each as a result of
; compression. If you prefer a larger chunk size for better
; performance, enable output_buffering in addition.
; Note: You need to use zlib.output_handler instead of the standard

# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/> for detailed
information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are
unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for
many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for
Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/xampp/apache" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/xampp/apache/logs/foo.log".
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is
located
# will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
# confusion.

# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile

# at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for

Hi, No I didn`t suceed and I have read carefully all thread and It
seems to be the same problem.
I was trying to contact somebody on Brazil , because they are going to
work with this system on archives, but I couldn´t find anyone yet. I
asked Oskar Calvo a spanish profesional that works with this software
and he told me that he succeded on Ubuntu, and I am going to try, but
the problem is that most students are not yet familiar on linux, so it
´s easier to teach on windows although when they install to work on an
archive they get somebody that installs on linux. In a word, it´s
important to get running on windows for teaching reasons and I will
hope somebody finds a workaround. If I get one I will let you know
Thanks both

Hi Philippe,

did you try to install ICA-AtoM1.0.7 on a Linux machine? I'm having
exactly the same issue as you and Silvana (the instalation process
stops in loadData), but it is occurs in Ubuntu.

I'm using the follow versions of software:

Apache 2.2.14, PHP5.3.0 and Mysql 5.1.31.

Did anybody have sucess in instalation using these versions? ... Does
anybody know what is happening in my case?

Carolina

Hi Carolina,

Ubuntu is what we use in the office for running, developing and
testing ICA-AtoM - so the installer should definitely work in
Ubuntu! :) I'm not sure what versions of PHP, Apache & MySQL we are
running exactly (I'll check when I go in to work tomorrow) but it
should run fine with the versions you have. Now we just need to
figure out why it's not working. :)

Have you had a chance to try the "qubit_dev.php" development URL
listed below (e.g. http://www.example.com/ica-atom/web/qubit_dev.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData
")? This should give you an error message that will give us a better
idea of what is going wrong. Please try this, and post any error
messages back to this forum.

Thanks,

Carolina Sacramento

David,

I'm sorry, but I really didn't saw your answer before.

I had sucess when installing the Qubit from subversion repository ,
but I'm still having problems with the ICA-AtoM (http://pear.qubit-
toolkit.org/get/icaatom-1.0.7.tgz).

When I try to install using this file "qubit_dev.php", the follow
message is displayed:

"You are not allowed to access this file. Check qubit_dev.php for more
information.".

What is wrong in my procedure?

Hi Carolina,

Oops, I should have mentioned that the "qubit_dev.php" file is only
accessible from the same computer as ICA-AtoM is running on. This is
a security precaution so malicious users can't see errors in the
site. If you can't run a browser on the same computer as the ICA-AtoM
installation, then you can allow access to other computers by editing
the "ica-atom/web/qubit_dev.php" file, as so:

if (!in_array(@$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], array('127.0.0.1', '::1',
'192.168.1.100')))
{

Where "192.168.1.100" is the IP for your client computer (the one that
you are trying to run the installer from).

You may also be able to find errors on the *server* by using the
following command:

> sudo tail /var/log/apache2/error.log

You can paste any error messages to this forum (be sure not to include
any private information) or send them to my personal account with the
"Reply to author" link.

Hi Carolina,

I've tried to answer your questions below.

Hi David,

I'm still having problems.. I tryed to install using this file as parameter and the following error is showed when I try to "checkSystem" with it:

"Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PropelException' with message 'Unable to open PDO connection [wrapped: SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)]' in ...

This can occur after an install fails before the full installation can complete.  Try deleting the following files, and running the installer again:

config/propel.ini
config/database.yml
apps/qubit/config/settings.yml

(NOTE: DO NOT delete the config/propel.ini.tmpl", "config/database.yml.tmpl", or "apps/qubit/config/settings.yml.tmpl" files. These files are required for the installer to run)

Initially, my problem occured when I tryed to "loadData". Then, I did all the steps of installation using the traditional method (install.php) and when the moment to loading data came, I changed "install.php" for "qubit_dev.php" (http://icaatom-1.0.7/web/qubit_dev.php/sfInstallPlugin/loadData), and that terrible blank page appears.. (on firefox) =(

These are the messages of Apache's error log:

" PHP Warning:  Directive 'register_long_arrays' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0
...
[Tue Oct 27 11:56:06 2009] [notice] child pid 1445 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Tue Oct 27 11:56:07 2009] [notice] child pid 1446 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Tue Oct 27 11:56:43 2009] [notice] child pid 1447 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) "

Oh no! Segmentation faults are a big problem because it means something went very wrong with PHP (the programming language we use).  It's good news if the installer is working for you subversion though, it means we may have fixed this bug in the newest version of the code.

I succeeded to install the qubit from the subversion trunk. What is the difference between qubit and icaatom-1.0.7 from ICA site? In our case, we need to customize the version 1.0.7/.08 to apply the changes made for us, in a instalation of 1.0.4 version. In our case, is more appropriate to work in the svn version? On November 2nd - the date when the new version will be avaliable, will the svn server updated too?

The qubit trunk is always are most recent version of the software - we make changes to this version almost every day.  This means that the qubit trunk always has the latest fixes, but it also has all the latest bugs - it's not fully tested so it's not as stable as the ICA-AtoM branch.   The ICA-AtoM branch gets updated every time we release a major revision (e.g. 1.0.7, 1.0.8, etc.) so it is usually months old.

When the 1.0.8 revision is released, we will update the ICA-AtoM branch as well.  We use this branch of the subversion repository to create the tarball, demo CD, and other versions of ICA-AtoM.

I'd recommend using the ICA-AtoM 1.0.8 release when it's available - you will be able to migrate your 1.0.4 data straight to 1.0.8.  Hopefully this will resolve your problems with the installer.
