Hello I'm hoping somebody may be able to help. I have a customer thats using Atom on an apache server running LAMP and they are having issues with connections from client web browsers timing out when left inactive for a short period of time. The work around for this is to close the web browser then re-open back up and log back in to Atom. This has only just started occurring and seemingly nothing has changed on the network. Does anybody have any ideas where the issue may lie.

many thanks

Adam

Hi there Adam,

I'm not sure if this is related, but AtoM does have a configurable setting for the amount of time of inactivity in a user session before the application logs them out. It is at about line 87 in the config/factories.yml file. See:

The default value for this setting is 1800s (i.e. half an hour), but you can change this value. Remember to clear the cache and restart php5-fpm after making any changes.

We use Nginx for development, testing, and production here at Artefactual, and so we have less experience with Apache, but I wonder if maybe the connection to Apache is dying or something?  One of our developers recently added some basic configuration documentation to our 2.2 docs branch for Apache - it's not on the website yet because we are still packaging 2.2 for public release, but you can see the commit here:

You might try following those configuration options, and making sure you have mod-php installed - hopefully this will help resolve your issues?

If the above doesn't help, let us know more about your installation environment (version of linux, version of PHP, hosting yourself or using an external provider, etc) and I will ask a developer to take a look and see if we have any further troubleshooting suggestions for you.

Hello to everybody, hope someone can help. We have issue with a time out session on Atom 2.2. We have tried (my IT guys) to increase the default time session timeout but the web browser still logs out after 30 minutes. We are using Nginx server running on Ubuntu 14.04 Does someone have any ideas?

Hello Ivan,

The lifetime of the session cookie is defined in seconds under /config/factories.yml (parameter "timeout" under the user factory). Once you've updated that configuration file you have to (1) clear the cache and (2) reload php5-fpm. Let us know how it goes.
