Dear ATOM Users,

I entered some records at the wrong level – at Item level when it should be at File level. Is there a way now that I can globally edit all the 94 items to File level other than editing one by one?

Violet.

Hi Violet,

Unfortunately, AtoM does not currently have a bulk editing module. If you are comfortable working with SQL queries, it should be possible to use the command-line to change the descriptions directly in the database - but PLEASE make sure you are taking a full backup first! Otherwise, unfortunately at this time changing them manually might be your best option.

Note that 2.4 will include some new options to update descriptions via CSV or XML import - so in 2.4 you could export the whole hierarchy from the user interface, open the CSV, change the level of description for the files, and then reimport using one of the update options. Right now we expect the public 2.4 release to be ready in the first or second quarter of 2017.

Dear Dan,

Thank you. I was hoping that the new versions now have the function, but I have already manually edited and it is fine now. I look forward to exploring the update options in version 2.4.

Regards,

Violet.
