Hi there,

I'm having trouble uploading digital objects to a collection, and hope
you might have some ideas as to what the problem might be. Linking
files isn't an issue, but when importing files I get an "upload error,
retry?" message.

I've tried different file formats and different file sizes, but keep
getting the same message. Linking files will be ok in some instances,
but from what I understand attaching multiple files to one archival
description can only be done via the import function.

Any ideas?

Hi Larissa,

Have you been able to import multiple files at all, or does it fail
across the board? If only some files fail, do the same files fail to
upload repeatedly? Any further details you can give would be helpful,
including a link to your site if it's online. Thanks.

Hi,

One thing to check would be whether the php variable
session.use-only-cookies is set to 0. See the requirements section here:
http://www.qubit-toolkit.org/wiki/index.php?title=Multiple_file_upload
This page also documents the Flash requirements.

Something else we ran into, if I recall correctly, was not having
imagemagick installed, but if the link digital object function is
working, then that's probably not a factor.

Hi Evelyn,

It fails right across the board - I've been trying to import a number
of different files, all different sizes (500 KB to 10 MB) and types
(pdf, jpg, tif) but have gotten the same message every time.

I can't send you a link since it's still a draft right now. If it
helps, I could make it live but it would have to wait a couple of
weeks since the person with the admin power is out of town. We'll
give Tim's php suggestion a try first and let you know how it goes.

Cheers,
Larissa.

Please, follow the instructions described by Tim. That PHP setting is decisive for the digital object import tool work properly.

You can check your PHP settings creating a new script file in your website root directory, you can call it phpinfo.php, containing the following code:

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Then use your browser to load that web page to check that setting value.

Hi Tim,

We changed the php variable and it's now letting me import files
perfectly. Thanks so much for your suggestion!

Larissa.
