500 error

I have the follow question, does it work on windows?
and I have this error text 
" Sorry, something went wrong.
The server returned a 500 Internal Server Error."

I need it for university work and I don't know how to change the error and make it work the IT guy doesn't know as well.

Welcome to the AtoM community! 

AtoM is tested and developed for installation on Linux Ubuntu LTS releases - this is where we ensure that all the correct versions of all the dependencies and underlying packages used in AtoM work as expected. You may also want to review our recommended Technical Requirements for installing AtoM, here: 
If you are trying to install AtoM on Windows Server 2022 or similar, we strongly recommend using virtualization - that way, you can run a production ready Linux Ubuntu virtual machine on your Windows Server, and simply follow the existing installation instructions to install and run AtoM inside the virtual machine. 

AtoM is also intended to be installed on production-ready servers for public access on the web. If you are trying to install AtoM on a personal device like a Windows desktop or laptop computer, then you may want to consider our Vagrant box instead. This is a virtualized version of AtoM that is typically used for local development and testing, and can be installed on any host computer. See:

However, keep in mind that this slide deck is now 5 years old, so a few of the later commands (such as how to restart PHP-FPM) are no longer accurate for the current version of AtoM. Instead, see:

I sent that too soon! As for your 500 error, we will need a lot more information about both the error, and your current installation, to be able to help you. Please see the following post in the user forum, and reply back on this thread with your own answers, so we can offer suggestions on next steps once we know a bit more about the issue and your AtoM installation:
