Dear all,

This is, I hope, a straightforward question. Is there a preference setting which will automatically open links to online images in a new tab?

We are running version 2.5.3 - 172.

Best wishes,

Hi Adam,

I'm pretty sure that this is already the default behavior for images that are added via URL in AtoM. At least, that's the case in 2.6, as you can verify in the public demo site - and I don't recall any changes made between 2.5 and 2.6 related to this!

Is this not happening in your AtoM instance? If so, is your site publicly accessible so I can test this out myself?

Cheers,

Hi Dan,

Many thanks for replying. I should have expected that the default behaviour would be as you say, so perhaps what is happening is due to some local setting. Here is a specimen page for you to test. You’ll see that the image is linked to our custom IIIF viewer:

Hi Adam,

Thanks for sharing! Very cool to see an AtoM instance interacting with a IIIF client! Are you somehow using AtoM's existing ability to link to external digital objects for this, or have you customized AtoM to add IIIF integration support?

Hope you've found a way to solve the new tab issue!

Dear Dan,

Many thanks for your encouraging compliments. The links are made in the straightforward way by creating links to the relevant URLs. The reference images and thumbnails were created separately.

I don’t really know how to do anything about the new tab issue, but it’s not a big deal, so we’ll put it to one side for the time being.
