AWStats on Nginx

Hello,

I've been trying to set up and run AWStats on Nginx, but I can't get past the configuration phase.  Attempting to restart nginx to implement the changes made fails because the nginx web server configuration file objects to the inclusion of the section to permit URL access to script/files in AWStats directory, ie...

<Directory "/usr/local/awstats-7.5/wwwroot">

...

</Directory>

And I assume that's why I can't get access to the perl script awstats.pl to build the statistics database (https://awstats.sourceforge.io/docs/awstats.pdf).

Hello Carolyn,

From your PDF, it looks like you've added a config snippet that's valid for Apache HTTPD to an Nginx config file. Nginx won't understand that as the config formats differ between these two web servers.

You may have to manually "translate" the required config to Nginx format before dropping it into the config file. Alternatively there are guides out there for how to set this up.
