Hi to all,

i'm new in atom coding and i'm trying to learn as fast as i can.

Can someone help me understand how can i create a custom field (text field) in ISAD form?
This custom field will not remain in exported data, but i need an internal field that keep some informations.

Many thanks
Omar

Hi Omar

It is not a very simple process. You have to add a field in the database and coding in other pages.
Could you not just use for instance the "Notes" field. You can add as many notes/not fields as you wish.

Ho Johan, First of all, thanks you for your reply.
How can i find some resources or tutorial in order to learn how can i "add line of code" for this task? I Will try to follow your suggestion about the use of the "notes field".

Hi Omar

There is no real tutorials on AtoM development as it is done by Artefactual with limited development done by the community.

You will need to know PHP, Symfony 1.4, MySQL and others to be able to develop in code.

Hi Omar,

I agree with Johan, you are better off using notes, instead of trying to add a custom metadata element.

If you are interested in learning how to develop with AtoM, there are resources on the Access to Memory wiki that might be helpful
AtoM has been designed to implement Archival Standards.  At Artefactual, we do not recommend developing custom fields or templates that do not implement a known standard and include a method of exporting data at a later date. We have outlined some of these reasons in a previous thread, here:

Hope this helps,
