Generate Identifier in a multi-repository database

Hello,

We have a user in our multi-repository instance of AtoM inquire about the option to automatically generate identifiers. We've never used this feature before specifically in a multi-repository setting, so I was wondering if the generated identifier will be unique to each repository or whether it is database-wide? For instance, Archives1 generates Identifer1, Identifier2, and Identifier3, if Archives2 chooses to also generate an identifier, will it end up being Identifier4? 

I'm a bit hesitant to use this feature because I'm unsure if it'll cause any issues in the future. Would love to hear what other multi-repository instances have chosen to do.
