Hi, folks.

I'm looking for the out of the box list of AtoM taxonomy terms. I've done some searching in the documentation, and looked over the listing on the demo site but struck out on both fronts.

I'm asking as an unapologetic genre term galaxy brain-er (so our default list is long gone).

Please and thank you!

Danielle

Hi Danielle,

As noted in the Taxonomy browse page, the original terms come from the Library of Congress' "Basic Genre Terms for Cultural Heritage Materials."

Frustratingly, while I can still find an entry page about this set, I can't find a browsable list of the terms themselves - seems things have been moved around a bit. Here's the scheme landing page:
In any case, you can browse the default terms in the AtoM demo site if you no longer have them available locally:

Quick follow-up:

In case you want to try the Wayback Machine, I did find this citation in a third-party resource:

Library of Congress,“Basic Genre Terms for Cultural Heritage Materials”
(Washington, DC: American Memory, U.S. Government, 2007),
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/techdocs/genre.html  (accessed July 28, 2008)

Currently it redirects to just a massive list of Genre/Form controlled vocabularies, of which BGTCHM is listed but again, I couldn't figure out how to get to the actual terms.

Wonderful, thank you

While I did look over the genre list on the demo site, I wasn't confident about it not having been added to. I appreciate the confirmation, in addition to everything else you've shared.

Have a great weekend!
