Hello team, I hope you are all doing well. Is it possible for Atom 2.10.0 to work with version 8.x of Elasticsearch?

Please check doc Link : https://www.accesstomemory.org/en/docs/2.10/admin-manual/installation/requirements/#installation-requirements

Software dependencies (required)

These are the minimum requirements, but please remember that in most of the cases you’ll experience better results working with the latest stable releases of each component.

  • A webserver like Apache or Nginx; Artefactual prefers the latter in development
  • Elasticsearch 7.x (we use ES 7.10 in development). ES 7.11 - 8.15 is not supported by AtoM as it uses Server Side Public License (SSPL) and Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2), which are not approved by the Open Source Initiative.
  • Java 8 (required for Elasticsearch)
  • MySQL 8.0
  • PHP 8.x (8.1, 8.2, 8.3 are all supported)
  • Gearman job server

Hi both,

The AtoM Maintainers keep a simple roadmap of upcoming development on the GitHub wiki, here:
Deepak has pointed out that AtoM 2.9 does not support ES 7.11 - 8.15 due to license incompatibilities. However, the good news is that after reviewing a lot of community feedback, The Elastic project made additional changes in 2024 and are now offering an A-GPLv3 license option with ES 8.16 and higher, which IS compatible with AtoM's license. For more details on ES license changes, see:
As you can see on the AtoM roadmap, the Maintainers are currently aiming to include an upgrade to Elasticsearch 8.16 or higher in the AtoM 2.11 release.

So: in summary:
  • No, AtoM 2.9 does not support ES 8.x
  • It would require a HUGE amount of local development to implement support for ES 8.x in AtoM 2.9 yourself - we don't really recommend it!
  • The AtoM Maintainers are intending to upgrade AtoM's ES version to 8.16 or higher in the next major release, version 2.11
  • There is not currently any firm timeline on the 2.11 release - the team has just released v2.10, and are currently reviewing bug reports and community pull requests to prepare a 2.10.1 release, as noted on the Roadmap.
