customizing template labels for archival descriptions

I'm hoping someone can tell me if this is possible. I want to change the labels used in the RAD template for archival descriptions. Instead of it reading "Title proper" for example, I just want it to say "title", instead of physical description I want it to read "extent and medium" etc. Is this possible though the UI as an admin? Is this possible for a graphic designer to alter in customising the look and feel? Or would this require dev work to make it possible?

Thanks!

Hi Krista,

Changing the description template field names is not currently possible via the user interface - you will likely need a developer to do this for you. We have previously done this for clients as part of a theme plugin - that way we avoid overwriting the base AtoM settings directly, making it easier to manage future upgrades (you just have to merge your custom theme plugin back in after).

I'll need a couple days to get to it, but we do have some slides on application theming from our recent AtoM Camp that I'll be uploading to our SlideShare account soon. They are very similar to those from the SFU AtoM Camp, but with a few improvements, so they may be of use. I'm attaching a PDF copy of them here for now, in case they are of use. They don't cover this particular example, but they do show how you can override things by copying the directory structure found in the main code base in your plugin, and then adding the modified code there. Hopefully that would point your developers on the right path.

Thanks! I will talk to our graphic designer about this and see if its doable via the theme (which she already has some experience with). If you can pass along a link to those updated slides when you get a chance I'm sure it'll be helpful.

Hi Krista,

I attached the slides! If they didn't come through for some reason for you, you can see them in the online version of the forum here:
