Hi,

When I try to link a digital object on a file the server returns a error 500 message.

On Apache's error log the following message is registered:

PHP Fatal error:  Can't use function return value in write context in /admsis/htdocs/atom/plugins/sfThumbnailPlugin/lib/sfImageMagickAdapter.class.php on line 419, referer: http://atom.stj.jus.br/index.php/habeas-corpus-n-01-rs-89-0007056-8/multiFileUpload

The error only appears if I try to link a PDF or a image file. It occours on any browser.

Every help is welcome.

My enviroment:
Red Hat Entreprise 7 64bits
Apache 2.4
PHP 5.4
MySQL 5.5.47
AtoM 2.3.1

Hi Pedro,

A couple things to check:

First, I think our documentation might need to be updated (my apologies!), but I believe that PHP 5.5 is required for AtoM 2.3.1. I would suggest upgrading your PHP version, and restarting PHP-FPM afterwards.

Additionally, have you made sure that pdftotext, ghostscript, FFmpeg, and ImageMagick are properly installed in your environment? See:

Since you are using RHEL instead of Ubuntu, you might have to do some quick research into whether all of these dependencies are available on your chosen platform, and comparing what version Ubuntu (via poppler-utils) installs to what is installed by default in Red Hat.

Let us know what you discover, and if it helps,

Hi Dan,

Upgrading PHP solved the problem.

Thank you very much.
