Hi Marcelo,
The size and resolution of your digital objects will depend more on your server specifications than any inherent limitations in AtoM. However, for uploading large digital objects, or bulk imports, you may need to use the command line.
AtoM's digital object upload support in the user interface is currently synchronous - that is, it is performed in real time on demand via the browser. Most web browsers have a default timeout limit of about 1 minute, to prevent long-running processes from exhausting all resources. Because of this, if you try to upload a very large image via the user interface, it's possible that the browser will time out before the upload completes, which can cause data corruption.
If you have command-line access to your AtoM installation then there are a few additional ways that you can import large digital objects. Mainly:
- By using the digitalObject columns in the archival description CSV import templates, or
- By using the digital object load task
I have previously provided more information and links about these options in the following user forum thread:
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
