Friends, good morning. I would like some help, I just installed AtoM, I found that the system is very slow. Has anyone ever experienced this? ex: getting to the ldap menu takes me 40 seconds, 10 seconds to open the page, another 10 to log in, 10 to click on settings, which means it's very slow.

Hello Leandro,

That does sound slow, though it is difficult to determine why without more information. For example:
  • What is the full version number of your AtoM installation? You can find this by going to Admin > Settings
  • Did you follow our recommended installation instructions for your version (e.g. for 2.8, this includes using Ubuntu 20.04, PHP 7.4, MySQL 8.0, Elasticsearch 5.6, Nginx, etc)?
    • If not, what did you change?
  • Did you install following Option 1 (install from our downloadable tarball) or Option 2 (install from our GitHub code repository) in our instructions?
  • Does your system meet or exceed our recommended hardware requirements? (i.e. at least 7GB RAM, at least 2vCPU, at least 50GB disk space)
  • AtoM is a web-based application. Can you confirm that your internet connection is strong, and that other sites are not showing the same slowness?
  • Have you tried monitoring system resources and active processes to find any possible bottlenecks? See this for example
  • Is your AtoM site empty or mostly empty - i.e. brand new? Or did you load data from a previous AtoM instance into this one?
  • Anything else we should know that might help us provide you with better answers?
Hopefully with more information we can provide some additional suggestions.

Cheers,

Hello again Leandro,

Another user has potentially discovered the cause of the slowness during login: check to see if you have the "Check for updates" setting enabled - if so, disable it.

This setting, when enabled, will normally ping the Artefactual AtoM release servers to check to see if an AtoM release exists that is newer than the current installation. If yes, then upon login a banner is displayed with a link to the Downloads page. See:
I am not sure if the issue is that our servers have been slow, or if there is a bug or regression in how this check is implemented in AtoM's code, but according to this forum thread, disabling the check should help resolve timeouts and/or slow loads during login attempts.

Meanwhile, we will continue to investigate this and hopefully address it in a future release. Hope this helps!

Cheers,
