Greetings to this great team.

I need to do a bulk import, and I want to use the digitalObjectURI column with multiple object URLs that make up the same unit.

What would be the correct way to put multiple URLs in the same cell?

I have tried separating by (,) and it hasn't worked.

Is it possible to define this type of record?

Hi Carlos,

Unfortunately, that is not currently possible in AtoM.

AtoM's data model enforces a strict 1:1 relation between an information object (i.e. a description or other type of record in AtoM) and a digital object. This is because in the data model, ONLY technical information is stored with the digital object, so any descriptive information at all (including a title for the object) requires an associated information object. Changing this would be a massive undertaking, as it would alter the underlying data model. As far as I am aware, there are currently no plans to do this in an upcoming AtoM release.

This means you cannot currently attach more than 1 digital object to a single description. Instead, AtoM allows you to create as many lower-level descriptions as needed, and you can customize the Levels supported in AtoM's Level of description taxonomy, to create your own sub-item levels if needed. By default, we include the level  "Part" as an example of a sub-item level you can use for such a case, but you could create whatever term you prefer to use - other examples might be: component, view, piece, element, side, or even image... etc.

The good news is that you can still do this in bulk via CSV import. However, you will actually use the archival description CSV instead. You should create your preferred sub-item level of description in AtoM's Levels of description taxonomy first. Then, for each row in your archival description CSV:
  • the qubitParentSlug column should include the slug of the parent description to which you will be attaching these new descriptions. Make sure you leave the parentId column blank when using qubitParentSlug
  • the levelOfDescription column should include the new term you would like to use for these rows
  • the qubitDigitalObject will hold the URIs you intended to import, as previously.
You can add as much or as little descriptive metadata to the other columns as you'd like. When this is done, users will see a digital object carousel at the parent unit level, showing a preview of all the digital objects in the sub-item levels below. It's not an ideal solution, but this or something similar is your best bet for now, in terms of representing multiple digital objects associated with a single description!

Cheers,

Thank you Dan, always for your willingness to clarify doubts.

We will take the sub-element approach for now.

And also an elegant output that will be grouped into PDFs.
