Good day, what is the permisible immage size that can be uploaded and linked to a description in AtoM ver 2.7.3 - 192?. I have an image with uploaded size of 3 meg and now it displays upside down in the thumbnails and carousel. When vieweng the master image it displays correctly. I think the image size might be to big. I need to confirn this please.

Kind Regards
Willem Erasmus

Hi Willem,

This rang a bell for me, and I managed to track down two older threads in the forum about a similar issue.

I suspect the problem is not the size of your image. Instead, it is likely that the original image was edited, and it has some EXIF metadata that describes an image rotation. Unfortunately, AtoM does not currently know how to parse this type of EXIF metadata, and so it is ignored during the derivative creation process, leading to the derivatives looking like they are oriented wrong.

Here are the old threads I found:
I will bring this issue to the attention of our Maintainers, so they are aware that this is an ongoing issue impacting users, and so they can consider it for the next release.

In the meantime, if you look at the second forum thread above, there are some suggestions for a workaround in the meantime to address the issue. Let us know how it goes!

Cheers,

Thanks Dan will try this and let you know. I have checked the metadata of the image and indeed it specifies rotate 180 deg. I am waiting for the archivist to delete and recreate the item with the resized and save as image.

regards
Willem

Hi Ndivhuwo,

You are welcome to contact Artefactual Systems off-list to discuss options for training:
If you are interested in possibly hiring a local consultant for your training, I would recommend that you make a post in the South African AtoM User Forum:
