Hi everybody,

I am interested in installing AtoM on several domains, on the same server.
ex.:

Has anyone ever done anything like this before?

Thank you so much!

Martin

Hi there,

I don't think that we at Artefactual have personally configured and deployed such a scenario, but this sounds like an Nginx configuration issue, and I found several resources suggesting it's possible by adding a second server block in the Nginx configuration. See for example:
I would also suggest checking the Nginx documentation and help resources for further information.

If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Hi Dan,

Thank you very much for your response!

Do you think the problem would be only with Nginx?

best,
Martin

Hi Martin,

If it's pointing to a single server, then other elements (like the database, the PHP settings, the Elasticsearch index, etc) should all be fine, as there is no conflict.

The one minor element I could think of - in Admin > Settings > Site information, administrators should set a Base URL for the site - this is used when preparing certain export paths, so you should confirm that whatever Base URL you set still works for serving up files when users arrive at your site from the second URL. However, if both paths are valid, then I don't think you should have any issues!

That said, I'm an archivist, not a system administrator, and I haven't personally tested this particular deployment strategy. So - try it out, and if it's not working, I can see if our team has any general suggestions that might point you in the right direction.

Cheers,

Hi, Dan,

Clearly what I would like to do is to take advantage of the resources previously installed.

I have a new tuned instance in production, in Digital Ocean, of only 4GB RAM and I have submitted it to several attacks
ab -n2000 -c100 -dS https://XXX.org.ar/index.php/informationobject/browse?topLod=0&sort=relevance&query=author
and I haven't broken ;-)

Undoubtedly, the cost of infrastructure does not merit that I try to create a multidomain version, but in advantage I would have custom domains and a lower cost of monitoring and administration

Indeed, each domain would have its own DDBB and routes, but that is a pending research topic.

thank you very much for your suggestions !

best
