Report Generation 500 Internal Server Error Net_Gearman_Exception

I am seeing similar issues to the following posts

First of all this is on a RHEL6 installation which has recently been upgraded to v2.4.0 (no issues with v2.3.0).
On report generation the 500 exception is thrown as atom appears unable to connect.
gearmand appears to be installed OK and listening on 127.0.0.1:4730 as it can be accessed via telnet (see below)

qtSwordPluginWorker is enabled and it appears that the atom-worker is also available (see below)

I have tried most of the suggestions in the other posts but although I can telnet to Gearman atom does not appear to be able to connect to it.

500 | Internal Server Error | Net_Gearman_Exception

Could not connect to 127.0.0.1:4730

I think I've sorted this out myself, may have been a combination of factors but the final block was of course selinux.

Are you on CentOS6/RHEL6?

Have you tried disabling selinux temporarily to check it is an selinux issue?
