| More than a year after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, NOR flash memory vendor Spansion is still trying to get its ducks in a row. Spansion had targeted the first quarter to emerge from bankruptcy, but the company missed that window when a judge rejected parts of Spansion's reorganization plan.
Spansion will eventually get the bankruptcy monkey off its back, but the question is, what will become of the company then? Some say Spansion will become a smaller, niche supplier and may try to go public through an IPO. Others say Spansion is a takeover target for a deep-pocketed company like Samsung, which may or may not have its sights set on the top ranking in the NOR flash market. Semiconductor editor Mark LaPedus has the story on where Spansion goes from here.
