Hi Mike,
INTAC also needs a new mast and we thought it might save us all money if you and INTAC (i.e. Graeme and I) ordered two new masts from the same place and had them shipped down together to STT. Where are you buying from, who are you dealing with, what make/type are you buying, who are you shipping with, and how much for all costs? Maybe we negotiate a discount to buy and ship two masts to STT…. What do you think?
Better yet maybe we get a IC24 group email or form going with all IC24 owners in STT, BVI, and possibly PUR to coordinate some bulk ordering of parts etc. to try to bring costs down and assist with repairing the three IC24 fleets.
Best Regards,
Mark Plaxton

I am not going to buy a new mast at this time. But Mike Finley is. You can call him at 284 440-3477.

Mark,
Glad to hear you will be coming to our events! What's the status of the rest of your IC-24 fleet? It would be great to get more participation in STIR, BVI Spring, and an IC-24 Mid winter Championship if there is additional interest. I would also be interested in acquiring boats and parts if any are available.
What do you think?

Hi Dave,
Bottom line we can bring INTAC-IC24 over for events all crewed up and/or take on some crew you want us to include and might also be interested in charters. Pls keep us posted. Thanks.

Hi Mark,
I hope you survived the storms. We are repairing our fleet and expect to be mostly back in business by mid-December.
How did your boat come through the storms? How about the rest of your fleet? If your fleet has a pulse I would hope we can invite you guys over for a couple of events this season. If not, I could be interested in buying boats or parts, as the case may be.
Give me a call if you want to discuss all this, or write back. Hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,

Hi Bill – Thanks for your considered offer of support towards the re-launch of the IC24 fleet in the USVI, BVI, and PUR.
Hi Ted – As you are on the ground at Nanny Cay and our BVI IC24 President are you able to provide an update on the status of all BVI IC24’s and/or would you send an email out to the BVI IC24 owners asking they each provide an update on the status of their boats (e.g. what they need to buy to fix up their boat, if they are interested in being part of a IC24 group bulk buy/shipping initiative to restore the fleet, if they are planning on being race ready and if so approximately when, if they will race in STIR and/or BVISR and/or PUR events and/or other events (i.e. once dates are advised by STT, PUR, and/or BVI) and/or if the owners are open to chartering their boat for any events? Thanks.
Pls note that INTAC will work to have our IC24 race ready and in the water ASAP and in any event before STIR and BVISR and/or any other compelling event and that we are looking to buy a new/used mast asap. We will attend all events we can in 2018 and the events we cannot attend we will support the fleet by chartering our IC24 to qualified skippers (e.g. Taylor, Tonks, Jason Caroll, Peter, Alec, etc., etc.) in an effort to support the re-launching of the IC24 class in the BVI, STT, and PUR and support the regattas/events in these countries.
Hi Alec and/or Tonks – Would you be able to follow up with Jason Caroll to see if he is interested in sponsoring an IC24 event or series of IC24 events (e.g. in the BVI and STT and PUR) where by interested owners would be able to charter their boat to earn good charter fees to assist such owners with raising money to offset the rebuild costs (i.e. as many IC24’s are not insured). Also, if an option, some experienced owners may like to race in such events and this would bring up boat participation numbers. Thanks.

Mark and all other IC 24 owners and supporters.
Obviously this will be a different year in the Northern Caribbean for yacht racing. I believe the focus should really be on getting the whole IC 24 fleet racing by owners or to charter parties who may not otherwise be sailing this year.
I think it would be beneficial for all to try and get as much information together as I possible to find where the IC24 fleet stands as whole.
I know STYC is trying to get their club owned boats up and running. Hopefully the other owners of STT boats will get back to this group on the status of their vessels..
Mark possibly you could collect info on the Tortola boats especially those that have not been active the past few years.
I believe Eric Tulla is currently collecting info on PR boats that he will share with the group.
I think getting info together is key and then decisions can be made on events, group orders for sails, charters and guest skippers.
Let’s focus on getting 20 - 25 boats sailing in this years events.
I personally am not involved in KWRW this year and am offering my free time (I have lots)in any way possible to help get the fleet back up and running. Let me know how I can help as a communicator, collector of info, regatta organizer, pro, etc.

Plus the two Rob Swain boats, presumably in the old Nanny Cay Marina basin?
Plus BEYC ‘Sea Hawk’ ashore and moderately damaged, state of rig unknown.
The KATs boats were insured and will surely be written off.
They are shallow ‘sunk’ and would be easy to salvage.
Would the core be saturated? Hard to say but anything can dry out.
It’s only deep sunk balsa boats that go bad.
Rigs and rudders seem to be the order of the day.
I would imagine a fully rigged J24 mast imported to the BVI will be about $8500 landed.
That is a choker, Mike F would know best.
Cheers RW
