Sunday, 1/19: OpenHack working on the stolen device finder project

Hi all,

I just got confirmation from David Schwindt of the Iowa City Police that he'll be coming by OpenHack on Sunday. David came to the last ICRuby meetup and described an application he'd like to prototype that would assist the police in finding stolen laptops, tablets, and smartphones. (Basically, the idea is to look for MAC addresses that match a list of ones that were reported as stolen.) It's a really interesting idea, and David has done a lot of the required legal and technical due diligence leading up to a prototype.

He specifically mentioned that an open source license would be preferred. Although a Ruby implementation was discussed, other languages like Python, Java, etc are more than welcome!
