Hello group, Ive
had a short notice request to attend an evening presentation in
Goldsmiths London which I cannot make -
Are any other iBVA users interested in attending to present ?
Do let me know also, if you are interested, if you need advice what to
do.
thank you,
Luciana

Here is the background and the contact details if you are interested,
your fee and expenses can be negotiated !

As part of our MA in Contemporary Art Theory at Goldsmiths, we have
formed a group in which we have been asked to follow a particular
interest, and give a presentation to the rest of the MA discussing our
critical encounter with this subject.

We've been looking at the idea of experts and expertise, and have
formulated lots of questions around this subject, and attended lots of
fairs and confererences in search of experts...

For our final presentation, we're running an 'expert fair', and have
invited a number of different experts to come along, share their
expertise, network with other experts...and then see what happens.
It's going to be great fun, very lively, yet a serious active
discussion on the topic.

Some of the questions we came up with asked: can expertise be
measured? Can it be tested? Where is expertise located in the body?
What does it sound like? I thought it would be a great idea to set up
an 'expert-testing machine', inspired by a game we saw at a casino
fair, where 2 opponents try and move a ball across a table using their
brainwaves (which were visible on a screen). I wanted to see what
happened to an expert's brainwaves when talking about their expertise,
could their thought be seen, or even heard?

At this late stage, I am trying to locate a GSR machine, or some kind
of polygraph, just as a visual attempt at this, but it's not ideal! If
you know of anyone who would like the opportunity to show/demonstrate
the equipment at our event? Or if I could hire it for the evening? It
will be well attended by experts, tutors, artists, students etc, and
we can consider payment/expenses, and there will certainly be free
wine!

If you can think of any people/ideas, I would be so grateful, as I've
almost run out!

You can either email me, or call me on 07877 883676 (and feel free to
pass these details on).

Thanks very much,

Abigail
