Hello All
My name is Krisztian Hofstadter and I am studying Music Technology at
ARU, Cambridge. The final project I am working on is about how to use
EEG for sonification purposes. Well, I am sure you know the part in
the IBVA software where you can trigger an audio sample with a peak;
this is also a sonification.
I am using Max/Msp (
http://www.cycling74.com/products/max5) and
Supercollider (
http://www.audiosynth.com/) , but a while ago I
experimented a bit with sending the raw EEG data message from Quartz
Composer to MAx/Msp vie OSC (Open Sound Control) as well.
Recently I work on two projects which are the following:
1. Receiving the Raw EEG data in Max/Msp and Supercollider, where I
would like to write a patch for FFT use. Well, I am thinking also
about a 3d representation like the IBVA software has, but step by
step... Masahiro prepared a Max/Msp object called IbvaGet. I would
like to achieve the same without using the object. Maybe some ERP
related work, like the one Mick Grierson did..

Here I would like to add a small biofeedback feature to the patch
which could be used for meditation purposese (EEG Neurofeedback in
IBVA Software).
2. I am using the from IBVA software exported EEG data for
sonification, where I read the recorded microvolts into Arrays and use
them for various things.
Most of the work I have done with IBVA can be found here:

As I am a music student it took me many hours to find out the way of
receiving data, but there is a lot more to understand. I would like to
find people who have similar interests or could explain some of the
protocols, algorithms I have to use for FFT, or coherence
calculations, etc.
Any help appreciated.
All the best
Krisztian
