New issue 1542 by kerr...@kerrickstaley.com: IBus-Pinyin settings are not
saved
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1542

Versions:
IBus 1.4.99.20121006
IBus-Pinyin 1.4.99.20120808 (custom build, from source; see the build()
function in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/32440?getfile=9597)
Arch Linux x86-64 (latest as of 2012-11-04)
GNOME 3.6.1
Python 2.7.3
DBus 1.6.8
Python-DBus 1.1.1

When configuring IBus-Pinyin (using ibus-setup), settings are not saved.

I can change any of the settings, but when I click "Close" and then
choose "Preferences" again from the main ibus-setup window, the settings
are back to the defaults.

Comment #1 on issue 1542 by m...@kerrickstaley.com: IBus-Pinyin settings
Also, IBus-Pinyin is using Double Pinyin, even though it's configured to
use Full Pinyin (this confused the hell out of me; I thought the pinyin
parser was entirely broken :).

I can change the settings in dconf Editor (they're under
desktop/ibus/engine/pinyin), but those settings have no effect.

Could you please run `ibus-daemon -rvx` in a term and repro this issue?
After that please upload log to this issue.

Comment #5 on issue 1542 by kerr...@kerrickstaley.com: IBus-Pinyin settings
I started ibus-daemon with -rvx and then tried changing one setting in the
preferences pane. There was some output on start-up, but no additional
output when changing the setting. The entire output follows:

IBUS-Message: 11:05:11.551412: Engine xkb:us:altgr-intl:eng is already
registered by other component

It looks like you did not setup ibus correctly.

Hi Daiki, Could you please give some suggestions for it? Thanks.

Comment #7 on issue 1542 by kerr...@kerrickstaley.com: IBus-Pinyin settings
It turns out the issue was fixed by this commit:

https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/ead48c8748521537beb0fbbe4af95c6b9a99a8af

This commit must not have made it into the latest IBus release yet.

The issue with ibus-pinyin defaulting to double pinyin even if full pinyin
is configured is not fixed for me even with the newest ibus from November
9th.

Probably you could provide the problem with detail.

I'm not the pinyin user so I don't use the pinyin mode but I confirmed the
radio button value is saved when I click either "Full pinyin" or "Double
pinyin".

% dconf read /desktop/ibus/engine/pinyin/DoublePinyin

@takao.fujiwara1
You can try this way:
Type: "zhongwenceshi"
You should get 中文测试 as first candidate if it is real full pinyin.

You may also install ibus-libpinyin as a reference.

The updated ibus didn't fix this issue for me either. The details of my
setup are in Issue 1552.

This issue is already fixed.
It's not good to comment other bugs here and reopen the bug.

As comment #16 said, this is NOT fixed... I also thought the pinyin parser
was broken for a while

I don't think so but your problem is not this.

Comment #20 on issue 1542 by joss-goo...@pseudonymity.net: IBus-Pinyin
I can confirm that I get this behaviour on the latest ibus-pinyin-git (and
ibus-git) from Arch Linux.

(The "about" dialog reports it as 1.5.1.)

The double pinyin problem confused me for a long time, and I can't turn it
off either through ibus-setup or through dconf-editor.

I'm certain that this problem is not fixed.

Comment #21 on issue 1542 by m...@kerrickstaley.com: IBus-Pinyin settings
joss-goo, it's working for me with on Arch Linux with ibus-libpinyin
instead of ibus-pinyin (ibus-libpinyin is the new hotness, supposedly set
to replace ibus-pinyin).
