Hi, what is the start year for IBTrACS to provide  the minimum center pressure    for tropical cyclones for different sea basins?

Hello Guiling Ye,

Since IBTrACS includes data from many sources, the start year for minimum central pressure depends on which source is used and the completeness of coverage desired. I provide a short summary below, but some sources will sporadically give pressure data before these years.
North Atlantic: 1979 (with prior data given if there was a specific observation) HURDAT2, 1851 M Chenoweth and DS824, 1899 TD9636
East Pacific: 1988 HURDAT2, 1949 DS824
Central Pacific: 2001 HURDAT2
West Pacific: 1949 China,1951 Japan,1961 HKO, 2001 JTWC, 1945 DS824 and TD9636
North Indian Ocean: 1990 (soon to be 1982) India, 2001 JTWC, mid-1970's  DS824
Southern Hemisphere: 1977 La Reunion, 1907 Australia, 1968 New Zealand, 1992 Nadi, 2001 JTWC, 1877 DS824, Neumann 1960s, 1956 TD9636

Multiple Basins 1945 TD9635

Hope this helps,
Jennifer
