Hi IBTrACS team
I hope this email finds you well.
Firstly, wishing you all a Very Happy New Year.
I am writing to request permission to host and disseminate the
International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS) Cyclone data
for the Northern Indian ocean on the Indo ArcGIS Living Atlas.
Indo ArcGIS Living Atlas is an open data repository and discovery platform that provides authoritative GIS datasets across multiple thematic domains for researchers, planners, and decision-makers. The platform enables users to directly integrate datasets into
their GIS workflows for analysis, visualization, and decision support.
Just for your review I am adding what Indo ArcGIS Living Atlas is all About:
As part of Esri India, me and my team have been working on curating a wide range of open datasets relevant to India and making them accessible through the ArcGIS Living Atlas of India. This platform serves as a centralized, authoritative repository of ready-to-use
geospatial layers across various themes such as climate, water resources, land use, environment, disaster management, and more.
Currently, we have compiled over 600 GIS-ready layers from open sources, enabling users to seamlessly explore, analyze, and integrate spatial data into their research and operational workflows. The goal of the Living Atlas is to empower the broader community—including
researchers, planners, government agencies, and NGOs—with high-quality, reliable data that can drive informed decision-making and impactful climate action.
Newly Published Layers:

We look forward to collaborating with you on this initiative.
Including the IBTrACS cyclone dataset for the Indian region would significantly benefit the user community by allowing easy and direct access to Cyclonic tracks within GIS environments. This would support studies related to cyclonic studies, disaster management
, climate change impacts, and long-term planning, among others.
We would ensure that:
-
Full and proper attribution is given to IBTrACS, National Centers for Environmental Information, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as the data source.
-
The data is shared strictly in accordance with NCEI and NOAA data usage and licensing terms
-
Any metadata, citations, or acknowledgements specified by IBTrACS, NCEI and NOAA are clearly displayed
Please let us know if you require any additional information from our side, or if there are specific terms or conditions we should adhere to for hosting the dataset on our platform.
We look forward to your guidance and hope to collaborate in making this valuable dataset more accessible to the wider scientific and GIS community.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm regards,
Prabhsimran
