Good Afternoon;

I was looking at track data for IBTrACS system 1859 Hurricane UNNAMED (1859224N28287) and found a reference for Agency MLC / 1859172N18275.mlc_natl.nc:Line=2210.  I am considering writing a presentation for AMS on 1859 and do not know this reference.  Can you point me to who this reference is?

Thank You very much.

Hi Steven,

MLC stands for the Chenoweth Dataset in which Michael L. Chenoweth compiled a reanalysis of historical hurricanes in the North Atlantic Ocean. The data is independent from the HURDAT analysis and spans 1851 through 1898.
Info about the dataset is given in:
Chenoweth, M., 2014: A New Compilation of North Atlantic Tropical Cyclones, 1851–98. J. Climate, 27, 8674–8685, https://doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D-13-00771.1.

Thanks,
Jennifer
