SIDs between csv and shapefile inconsistent for at least one storm

When I read in ibtracs.NA.list.v04r01.csv, the SID for AL092024 (HELENE) is 2024266N14277. When I read in IBTrACS.NA.list.v04r01.lines.shp, the SID for the same system is 2024268N17278. All other SIDs are consistent between the two datasets.

I understand that SID's may change for the same system, but in this case they are different in the two separate datasets and only for one storm (at least in the data since the year 2000).

Hi,

We've recently added best track data for HELENE to IBTrACS which led the provisional SID 2024266N14277 to be replaced with 2024268N17278. I suspect you are using an older csv file with the provisional version of Helene, which is why the SIDs are different, and I would recommend redownloading the csv file.

ok, thank you. I can confirm that the SID at https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/international-best-track-archive-for-climate-stewardship-ibtracs/v04r01/access/csv/ibtracs.NA.list.v04r01.csv is now consistent with the other datasets.
