Difference tracks Historical Hurricane Tracks viewer and IBTrACS line file

Dear all,

I am highly interested in using this great data source, thank you for creating it!

I have been working with the IBTrACS line shapefile in QGIS which looks good. However, when I am exploring the data in the Historical Hurricane Tracks viewer, it seems the trajectories are different.

Below an example for Sint Maarten, where Lenny is coming more from the south in the viewer than in the data download.

Can anyone explain what causes this difference?
